The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 318

Chapter 318

Vivian brushed off the encounter. After saying goodbye to Gregory, she immediately had Zoe draft the contract.

“This is our first time producing a show independently. We have the director on board, now we need to ramp up the marketing. Do not let anything slip through the cracks.”

“Understood.” Zoe caught a glimpse of her in the rearview mirror; the woman had her eyes closed, looking thoroughly exhausted. “Miss Fairchild, are we heading back to the Southwood Estate?”

“Yeah.”

Vivian opened her eyes and suddenly asked, “Any news on that person?”

Zoe instantly knew who she meant and shook her head. “No. The Sterling Family’s influence runs deeper than we anticipated. We couldn’t find a single trace.”

The wealthy guarded their privacy and security far more aggressively than ordinary people.

Erasing someone’s identity was never a difficult task for them.

This outcome was hardly surprising.

Vivian thought for a moment before saying, “Keep digging. I’ll look into it on my end too. I want to avoid involving Silas if at all possible.”

‘I can marry you, and I can destroy you.’

Those chilling words still echoed in her ears.

The man was far too dangerous. Unless absolutely necessary, Vivian had no desire to play mind games with him again.

She pulled out her phone, turned the screen on, and let it go dark.

After repeating this a few times, she finally opened a chat with Vincent.

[Hey Vincent, I need a favor.]

A reply came quickly: [What is it?]

[I need you to look into someone for me.]

With Vincent’s status, he possessed international connections the average person could never access. No matter how deeply someone was hidden, he could usually unearth a trail.

Vivian’s logic was sound, but someone clearly wasn’t giving her the luxury of time.

Before she could even get an update, an email landed in her inbox.

Chapter 318

[! have a piece of information you’re desperate for. If you want it, trade me her location.]

Followed immediately by another.

[You have one week. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you never find out.]

Her.

Darcy Cole.

Marcus was cold down to his very bones. He exclusively communicated via email and never touched casual apps like iMessage.

Sitting in her office chair, Vivian’s slender fingers gripped her mouse, her knuckles turning

white.

After a long moment, she let out a heavy breath.

She picked up the phone from her desk.

Silas had been swamped for the past two days, and they had barely crossed paths at home. If she wanted to ‘build a connection, she had to get creative.

Opening iMessage, Vivian sent him a voice memo.

“Hey roomie, are you free for dinner tonight?”

A moment later, he replied with a single question mark.

Such a cold, detached response was perfectly on brand for Silas.

A faint smile touched Vivian’s lips as she recorded another message. “I’d like to discuss a little romance with you. I highly suggest you don’t play hard to get.”

No reply.

Again, entirely expected.

Vivian knew perfectly well that until he completely dropped his guard, Silas would never take the initiative. The fact that he hadn’t outright rejected her was solely due to his ingrained

manners and her status as his ‘wife in name.’

Just as she was stressing over what to do next, a message pinged right as she was about to leave the office.

[Come down.]

Just two words, but they made Vivian’s heart skip a beat.

She shot out of her chair, took two deep breaths, and sat back down, furiously typing and deleting messages.

A minute later, Silas received her reply.
