The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 319

Chapter 319

Offering choices was a good way to avoid unnecessary problems.

“Please wait a moment, Mr. Sterling.”

Bowing respectfully, Zoe backed out of the office.

She honestly didn’t understand why Vivian had insisted on making Silas come upstairs, even/ going so far as to call an impromptu meeting for a project that wasn’t remotely urgent.

Two minutes later, she received a text.

Seeing Vivian’s instructions, Zoe’s pupils shrank slightly before she headed downstairs.

Time ticked by. It took about twenty minutes before Vivian finally emerged from the conference room.

Her long black hair was casually pinned up with a pen. She wore a black blazer over a burgundy silk blouse with the top two buttons undone. A few stray strands of hair framed her face, adding a touch of effortless, languid charm. Yet, with a face like hers, ‘effortless’ was still breathtaking.

“Did you wait long?”

She pouted, her expression full of apology.

Still clutching a stack of files, she opened her arms and gave Silas a loose, quick hug.

“It looks like we won’t be able to go out for dinner tonight. I had Zoe order takeout. Just stay here and keep me company, okay?”

Seeing the man frown, she leaned softly against his shoulder. Her hand slid down his arm to catch his, giving it a gentle squeeze. “Just this once. I promise I’ll plan better next time, alright?”

She was turning on the charm.

A woman’s natural charm was her most lethal weapon.

Used effectively, even the most detached man would find it hard to say no.

Silas let out a heavy breath. “Don’t let it happen again.”

Vivian nodded instantly. “I promise.”

Gently pushing him toward the sofa, she returned to her desk to continue working. Every so often, she would glance up at him, her eyes dripping with sweet affection.

Zoe brought the takeout back and delivered it to the office.

“Tell the team to take a break. We reconvene in thirty minutes. I need a concrete solution by the end of the day.”

“Understood.”

“The water’s gone cold. Bring a fresh glass.”

Vivian locked eyes with Zoe as she delivered the instruction, a silent exchange of meaning passing between them.
