After so many years, Vivian was used to the fact that his heart only had room for one daughter, Amara. Hearing those words now, whatever lingering emotions she had dissolved into a cold scoff.
She looked at the middle-aged man in front of her.
Three words slipped from her red lips.
"In your dreams."
"You—"
Unable to control his temper this time, Dominic lunged at Vivian with a raised hand.
Just in the nick of time, a tall figure suddenly appeared and caught his arm with effortless ease.
The man's voice was chillingly deep. "Mr. Fairchild, what are you doing?"
"..."
Dominic froze, looking up at the man's face.
"Mr. Granger..."
He forced a stiff smile, suddenly finding Jonah's gaze deeply unsettling.
"Vivian and I were just discussing some matters, and you know how her... temper can be. As her father, I felt I should teach her a lesson, lest she accidentally offend some VIP out there. What would happen then?"
Jonah casually slipped his hand into his pocket, his gaze sweeping over the woman.
She kept her eyes lowered, seemingly completely detached from the situation.
But the slight downward curve of her lips said everything about her current mood.
"Vivian is twenty-five years old. You never bothered to guide her when you should have. What makes you think you have the right to discipline her now?"
"I..."
Dominic choked on his words, completely at a loss for how to argue back.
Amara had already told him about the situation with Jonah, and he didn't dare offend the man now. He was still banking on these two getting back together!
Chuckling awkwardly, Dominic lowered his eyes to hide a flash of calculation and adopted a humble posture. "You're absolutely right, Jonah. I was too impulsive... It's entirely my fault."
This sycophantic display made Jonah frown in instinctive distaste.
"I've already made things perfectly clear to Amara. Her current predicament is entirely her own doing." Jonah shot Dominic a sidelong glance, issuing a cold warning. "If you truly want what's best for her, keep a closer eye on your daughter from now on. Don't let her come around looking for trouble with Vivian ever again. And of course..."
"The same goes for you."
"..."
The man's tall, straight silhouette gradually retreated. Facing the light, his imposing aura was unmistakable.
It took a long moment before Dominic finally exhaled the breath he had been holding in his chest, his face turning a livid shade of purple.
He had never anticipated things would turn out like this!
Not only had Jonah's attitude toward Amara done a complete one-eighty, but he had actually set his sights on Vivian—
Were these wealthy heirs completely blind?!
Silas Sterling was already a nightmare to deal with, and now here came another one!
Didn't this mean it would be even harder to get back the assets Vivian had conned out of him?
