Transcribing texts, meditating, or else doing morning stretches and drinking tea.
Vivian Fairchild had a feeling that if Cynthia Sterling and Old Mr. Sterling were put in the same room, they might actually get along brilliantly.
But oddly enough, Cynthia's relationship with the old man seemed terrible, and everyone treated it as an absolute taboo to even bring it up.
When night finally fell, Vivian was too exhausted to even catch her breath.
Returning to her room, she received a call from Zoe Hunt.
"Vivian, Dominic... left."
This was entirely within Vivian's expectations; she hadn't counted on Zoe being able to make Dominic stay.
"Did he say anything?"
"No."
Zoe's tone carried a hint of helplessness. "Dominic said he was drunk last night, but right before he left, he mentioned that if you absolutely must hear something from him, you'll have to trade something of equal value."
These ambiguous words didn't just give Vivian hope; they acted as a warning.
He definitely knew something, but it all depended on what Vivian was willing to give up.
As for whether it would actually be worth it in the end...
That was entirely her own speculation, and it had nothing to do with him.
"That sly old fox really knows how to play his cards."
But this actually made Vivian less anxious. Dominic wouldn't be leaving Northside anytime soon, so she could take her time digging up what she needed.
Hanging up, Vivian headed to the bathroom for a shower.
She hadn't been this physically active in a long time, and every muscle in her body ached in protest.
Stepping out and collapsing onto the bed, even the slightest movement felt incredibly taxing.
She lazily stretched out her arm, grabbed her phone, and dialed Silas Sterling's number.
"Hello," she murmured.
Her voice sounded utterly pitiful and needy.
Silas had just returned to The Southwood Estate. Sitting in his parked car, he hadn't even disconnected the Bluetooth yet when the call connected, filling the entire cabin with the woman's soft, sultry tone.
He leaned back against his seat, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
"What's wrong? Tell me."
"Cynthia is so painfully traditional."
Silence hung on the line.
Being Cynthia's son, Silas was naturally well aware of this.
"Do you think saying that will make me feel threatened?"
"I'm just stating facts."
"Good. Keep it up, then."
Keep what up?
Keep having plenty of guys lined up for her?
Vivian gritted her teeth in frustration. Realizing he couldn't see her, she quickly smoothed out her expression. "Mr. Sterling, your possessiveness over me is disappointingly low. I'm very dissatisfied."
Silas didn't bother turning on the first-floor lights and headed straight upstairs. "If you're dissatisfied, go pout about it."
Then, he hung up.
Vivian stared in disbelief.
She pulled the phone away from her face. Did he seriously just hang up on her?
He absolutely did!
That arrogant jerk!
Fine... she was never calling him again.
