The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 474

Zane nodded thoughtfully but didn't drop the subject. "They never dated?"

"Never."

"Got it."

Zane nodded. "You guys go have fun, I'll take off first."

"...??" What the hell.

Sloan clicked his tongue. "You're already here, and none of us are exactly shy. Meeting them... wouldn't be a big deal, right?"

"It isn't a big deal," Zane chuckled softly. "I'm just worried that if she sees me watching her throw a diva fit, she'll have a complete meltdown."

Sloan was speechless.

Not long after Zane left, Scarlett walked in.

Seeing Sloan leaning casually against the front desk, she smacked him on the shoulder. "What are you doing standing here? Didn't you say you were meeting a new friend? Where's your friend?"

Thinking of what Zane had just said, an amused smirk tugged at the corner of Sloan's mouth. "He left. You just missed him."

"Tch, so what if I missed him."

He made it sound like it was some VIP.

Still thoroughly annoyed, Scarlett dug into her purse, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it.

"You know that driver of mine? He's always so clumsy. I had my eye on a male model here before, and I promised to bring him a gift the next time we met. But when I got to the door just now, I realized I left the gift at home. Can you believe how ridiculous that is?"

Sloan's lips twitched. He wasn't surprised she'd pull something like that.

"If he's that annoying, why haven't you fired him?"

"Don't even get me started!"

Scarlett swore under her breath. "His wife is sick! If I fire him, where is he going to find a job with a salary this high?"

"..."

How surprisingly kindhearted of her.

Too lazy to bicker with her, Sloan waved a hand. "Then go find your little male model to play with. I'm out of here."

"Hey—"

A subtle flicker crossed Scarlett's eyes as she blocked his path.

"I actually... saw him just now."

"Embarrassed because it's true?"

Sloan threw salt on the wound while bolting toward the exit. "Look at you, exploding at the slightest provocation. If you aren't a T-Rex, what are you? No wonder Zane dumped you!"

It didn't take long for Scarlett's furious screams to fill the parking lot out front, causing countless passersby to stop and stare in bewilderment.

The very next day, the Sinclair heiress and the young master of the Mercer family made the entertainment headlines, having supposedly fought out of love.

But that was the outside world. Silas and Vivian were completely unaware and didn't care in the slightest.

That night, Silas ultimately made his way to Rosewood Manor.

The original passcode had been changed, so he couldn't get in.

He rang the doorbell, and Judith answered.

"Mr. Sterling."

"Open the door."

Standing respectfully behind the locked gate, Judith showed no intention of opening it.

"Rest assured, Miss Fairchild's fever has completely broken. According to the doctor, she'll be fully recovered by tomorrow."
