Since Silas wasn't coming home, Vivian decided to handle some business of her own.
She had Zoe Hunt track Dominic Fairchild's whereabouts, then drove straight to the hospital. She had heard that Amara's hand injury was severely affecting her heart condition and that recovery would be a painfully long process.
Such fantastic news naturally warranted a personal visit.
As she reached the ward, before she even knocked, she heard the screaming inside.
"What do you expect me to do? Can't you see? Jonah's entirely obsessed with my sister! What am I supposed to do!"
Amara's voice was breaking down. She was sobbing hysterically, drowning in her own self-pity.
Dominic's heart broke for her. He wiped her tears with a tissue, desperately trying to console her.
"Amara... Daddy promised I'd figure something out. Just give it some time. Focus on getting better first, okay?"
Amara just sniffled, refusing to answer.
"As for Vivian..."
Just mentioning the name made his eyes flash with venom. His voice dropped to a vicious growl. "She's done nothing but ruin her own father and sister! You don't ever have to treat her as your sister again. As far as I'm concerned, I don't have a daughter named Vivian!"
She had heard these lines so many times she was completely numb to them.
Vivian pushed the door open.
"Disowning someone isn't a one-sided announcement. Shouldn't I at least be in the room?"
"..."
The father and daughter were completely caught off guard by her sudden appearance.
Dominic was the first to snap back to reality. He glared at her coldly. "What are you doing here? Get the hell out!"
Vivian clicked her tongue softly. Instead of backing away, she walked right in, elegantly taking a seat on the sofa and crossing her legs. "My dear father, what kind of greeting is that?"
She cast a sideways glance at Amara, who was currently a tear-stained mess.
"Didn't you tell me... to come apologize to my sister?"
Her gaze was like a datura flower blooming in the dark—breathtakingly beautiful, but dripping with lethal poison.
Staring at her, Amara felt as if her injured hand was splitting open all over again.
Her breathing hitched as she clawed desperately at Dominic's sleeve.
"What kind of attitude were you expecting?"
Vivian's expression cooled fractionally.
She was still smiling, but the smile was laced with pure mockery. "Besides, when did I ever agree to apologize to her? I only came to see if she was dead yet."
"You—!"
Dominic raised his hand to strike her, but froze.
"What, want to hit me again?"
Vivian's eyes were like daggers. She stared him down and took a deliberate step forward. "Try it. I dare you. Hit me!"
The last words were a low, guttural snarl.
The sheer ferocity of her aura actually made Dominic flinch.
"You... whatever!"
He averted his gaze, shaking his hand dismissively. "Making a scene out of family business for the world to laugh at! You're nothing but a worthless disappointment. Beating you won't change a thing!"
