The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 490

As Vivian drove back, she passed a bustling street lined with bars. Keeping her speed low through the crowd, she caught sight of a familiar face.

It wasn't even nine o'clock, but Grace Gifford was already stumbling drunkenly along the pavement. Two men were tailing her closely, their intentions glaringly obvious.

"Hey gorgeous, let us walk you home."

"Yeah... look how drunk you are. Why play hard to get?"

"Don't be scared, we just want to help."

They took turns harassing her, reaching out from both sides to grab her arms.

"Get away from me!"

Grace had been raised like royalty; she had never bowed her head to anyone. Barely holding herself upright, her hair tangled across her face, she shot the men a venomous glare.

"Back off, or I swear I'll ruin your lives!"

"Damn, she's feisty."

Her resistance only seemed to excite them more.

The two men exchanged a dirty look before one stepped directly into her path.

"We thought you looked like some celebrity, but your attitude says otherwise. Whatever, I'm into the wild ones. Come on, let's go have some fun."

"Get out of my way..."

To them, Grace's struggling just looked like she was playing hard to get.

Besides, she was hammered. There was no way she could overpower two grown men.

Frowning, Vivian pulled up beside them and slammed on the horn.

All three of them jumped.

Grace stared in disbelief. "It's you..."

Vivian jerked her chin toward the passenger seat. "Get in."

The two men were already drooling over the luxury car. They thought they had struck gold with the first girl, but the one behind the wheel was on an entirely different level.

"Hey sweetheart, are you inviting us too?"

"Look at what she's driving... she's definitely loaded. Forget it, man. It's not worth it."

After glaring for another second, the two men begrudgingly backed off. Grace slumped into the passenger seat, her expression painfully stiff.

"Don't think this makes us friends. Vivian, I still hate you."

"What a coincidence, the feeling is completely mutual."

Vivian cast a sideways glance at her. "I just took pity on you."

If it had been any other random girl on the street, Vivian would have intervened all the same.

Grace gripped the seatbelt with both hands, her defenses fully raised. She had consumed a massive amount of alcohol, and her fair cheeks were flushed a deep pink.

After a long silence, she spoke, her voice thick and raspy. "I don't understand how everything fell apart. Before you showed up... everything was perfect. But now, Silas dumped me because of you, and my family is falling apart because of you."

Richard Fowler was currently locked up in a holding cell, completely unbailable until his trial.

Her father had pulled every string he had, but absolutely no one was willing to help.

The Sterling Family had made their stance violently clear. Anyone who dared to lend them a hand was declaring war on Silas Sterling.
