The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 76

Chapter 76

Scarlett blinked, taken aback. “No, I haven’t.”

She didn’t even know where that woman had come from. What did he mean, had she seen her before?

“You sure are quick to play the judge, then.” Silas’s face was completely devoid of expression. If one had to use a word to describe him, it would be ice. “Do you think just because your last name is Sinclair, I won’t hold you accountable?”

Scarlett winced as his grip tightened, finally managing to wrench her arm free.

Rubbing her wrist, she cursed the bastard a thousand times over in her head.

She glared at him indignantly. “So what if I do? You wouldn’t dare lay a finger on me anyway. Just you wait. I’m going to track down your future wife and have her put you in

Scarlett shouted with sheer defiance, shooting him one final, lethal glare.

Then, she spun on her heel-

And bolted.

your place!”

A smart woman knew when to retreat. She knew Silas well enough to recognize exactly when

he was not to be trifled with.

But seriously… was the guy even a gentleman?.

He didn’t know the first thing about treating a woman right.

Scarlett muttered curses under her breath as she stalked down the hallway. Finally, she spotted a woman standing at the entrance of a private booth.

She was facing the doorway, her hand gripping… a necktie?

Scarlett stepped a little closer.

Inside the room, a man sat on a single stool. He wore a casual suit over a burgundy dress shirt, but his collar was a crumpled mess. The tie was barely hanging on around his neck, acting more like a leash firmly gripped in Vivian’s hand.

Scarlett recognized him immediately. He was one of the hottest A-list stars right now. What was his name again?

Right.

Tristan Montgomery.

She clicked her tongue, her gaze landing squarely on Vivian with undisguised intrigue.

This woman was fierce.

Tristan slouched lazily on the stool. He even pulled out a cigarette, popping it between his lips. With a sharp click, a blue-green flame flared from his lighter.

The glow illuminated his strikingly handsome features, reflecting a cocky sense of

amusement.

“I told you I’m not going. What are you going to do, eat me alive?”

His punchable smirk made even Scarlett want to clock him in the jaw.

Vivian barely reacted. Her voice remained deadpan. “I won’t eat you, but believe me, I could easily throw a burlap sack over your head and beat you within an inch of your life.”

Tristan’s mouth twitched. It wasn’t that he doubted her.

But she was just a woman. How much damage could she really do?

Beat him half to death?

He’d much rather she kill him in bed.

He took a drag of his cigarette and deliberately tipped his head back in slow motion. A faint trail of smoke slipped past his lips, forming rings that drifted between them and slowly dissipated toward the ceiling.

The hazy veil of smoke seemed to add an undeniable layer of tension to the air.

Vivian frowned. With a cold scoff, she stepped forward and snatched the cigarette right out of his mouth.

She dropped it onto the floor.

Noticing the man’s expression stiffen, she said flatly, “I hate secondhand smoke.”

Scarlett couldn’t hold back anymore; she let out a loud snort of laughter.
