The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 89

Chapter 89

Vivian took the initiative to call Old Mr. Sterling for the second time.

The first time, it was to agree to marry Silas.

The second time, it was to announce she had decided to make Silas marry her.

While the two sounded similar, there was a fundamental difference.

Surprisingly, the old man fully supported her idea, practically begging her to hurry up, join the family, and get pregnant with a Sterling heir.

Vivian wasn’t thinking that far ahead just yet, but a sincere deal required offering a

satisfactory bargaining chip.

So when Old Mr. Sterling laid out some terms, she only hesitated for a moment before

agreeing.

“Don’t worry, a promise is a promise. I won’t shortchange you.”

The old man’s voice was warm and amiable. “Once it’s done, I’ll give you five percent of the Sterling Group’s shares. How does that sound?”

Five percent of the Sterling Group was a staggering fortune that an ordinary person couldn’t even fathom.

Vivian thought about it for a second and asked, “Grandpa Sterling, can we convert that into cash?”

The old man paused before bursting into hearty laughter.

“Of course we can! Whatever you want!”

After hanging up, Vivian sent two quick iMessage texts to Scarlett, who immediately replied with an ‘OK’ emoji.

Now… it all came down to whether the man would take the bait.

Vivian took a deep breath, leaned back in her chair, and closed her eyes to rest.

Night fell.

The sky hung like a black curtain, devoid of a moon, with only a scattering of stars. The neon-lit city seemed trapped beneath it, exuding an oppressive, hazy vibe.

Vivian drove to Lounge One.

She was visiting this club for the third time in three days. She chuckled self-deprecatingly, thinking she might as well buy her own bar at this point.

She parked and walked in.

Scarlett was sitting at her usual spot, waving as soon as she spotted her in the distance.

“Over here!”

Vivian walked over, casually setting her purse on the bar counter.

“Looking good.”

Scarlett looked her up and down. “You really dressed to kill… Tsk tsk, no man alive could resist this level of charm.”

Silas excluded, of course.

That guy didn’t function like a normal man.

Vivian ignored her teasing, scanning the room. “Where is he?”

“Here.”

“…?”

“Take it.”

Scarlett shoved a room card into her hand, casually sipping her drink. “I thought about it, and trying to talk to a guy like him is useless. It’s much more reliable to just drag him to bed. Go on, I shouldn’t have to teach you the rest.”

Vivian looked at the card in her hand, honestly a little speechless.

But on some level, Scarlett was absolutely right.

She let out a breath. “Which hotel?”

“Next door.”

Scarlett beamed like a ray of sunshine. “The best hotel in town. If I didn’t like you so much, I wouldn’t have bothered booking it for you.”

Vivian picked up her bag. “Thanks for your hard work. I’ll be in touch.”

The Arden Hotel next door was fifty-eight stories tall, towering into the clouds.

She made her way upstairs without running into any issues, located the room, and the moment she knocked and the door cracked open, a large hand shot out and yanked her
