The Stolen Heiress: The Billionaires’ Little Star novel Chapter 21

Xavier chuckled, completely unfazed by the old man's impotent rage.

"It doesn't matter if I don't understand you, as long as you understand me. Do you know who I am?"

Grandpa Lowell stared at him in confusion. Hadn't this guy already introduced himself? His name was Xavier Sterling, and he was here from the city to film a show.

"I have a lot of money. My dad is the CEO of The Sterling Group, and one of my mom's paintings can sell for three million dollars. She just thought my temper was too volatile, so she sent me to this remote mountain village to build character. Right now, I don't have any money. Give me that thousand bucks, and let me live comfortably here for a month. After a month, I can give you whatever amount you want."

What? A painting selling for three million?

Not thirty thousand—three million!

Grandpa Lowell's mouth hung open.

That was a sum he couldn't even fathom making in his entire lifetime.

Grandpa Lowell awkwardly squeezed out a sentence in a thick, strange accent, "Are... are you for real?"

"Don't believe me?" Xavier tapped the micro-camera pinned to his chest. "The camera is rolling. The whole country can see my promise to you. Are you still afraid I'll go back on my word?"

Grandpa Lowell stared intensely at the camera, his breathing growing ragged.

After a long moment, he simply couldn't resist the massive temptation. Becoming friends with a rich kid like this was obviously way more profitable than just taking a thousand bucks. I'm not stupid.

Flashing an obsequious smile, Grandpa Lowell pulled the cash from his waistband and handed it to Xavier.

Xavier was speechless.

Fighting the urge to gag, he took the bills and walked straight to the executive director, demanding crisp, new ones in exchange. The director was baffled but couldn't exactly refuse the reasonable request.

"Where did you even get this money, Master Sterling?" the director couldn't help but ask.

Holding the stack of fresh bills, Xavier raised an eyebrow. "It's Daisy's." Then he added, "Oh, by the way, lend me some alcohol spray. I need to wash my hands."

Only after sanitizing did he touch the camera on his chest, finally turning it on. The red light blinked to life, returning to its normal broadcast state.

Daisy had just woken up. She sat up groggily, rubbing her eyes, only to see Xavier drop a stack of cash right in front of her.

"Daisy," he declared, "I'm counting on you to feed me now."

Daisy was stunned. "Where did this come from?"

Xavier smirked. "Got it back from your grandpa. So, how about it? Aren't I amazing?"

Daisy's eyes went wide, looking like a startled little kitten.

She knew her grandfather's temper perfectly well. Once something ended up in his hands, you would have to pry it from his cold, dead fingers to get it back.
