The Stolen Heiress: The Billionaires’ Little Star novel Chapter 25

On screen, Daisy turned around and reached up to tie the makeshift cloth mask over his face a little tighter.

"You can go rest," Daisy said softly.

Xavier grumbled under his breath, but he honestly went right back to laying bricks. "Like I'd actually leave a little kid out here to fix a pigpen by herself."

To pass the miserable time, Xavier held his breath slightly and asked, "Why didn't you call me when you fed the pigs before? I didn't even know your family had any."

"Because it's really dirty. You'd throw up if you saw it," Daisy murmured.

Xavier wanted to argue that a grown man wasn't that delicate.

But the overwhelming stench invading his nose made him reconsider.

Fine.

He kind of wanted to throw up right now.

He probably wouldn't even be able to eat dinner tonight.

The two of them finally managed to finish repairing the pen.

"This should be sturdy enough, right?" Xavier asked.

Daisy nodded, then shook her head. "They might break out again after a while."

Xavier was confused. "Are the materials not strong enough?"

Daisy nodded.

"Then why not buy stronger materials?" The moment the words left his mouth, Xavier realized the answer. Because they didn't have the money.

Xavier looked up at the sky and let out a long sigh.

Whenever he swiped his card at a designer store, he never even looked at the total. As a result, he had never truly understood the reality that being broke could truly cripple a man.

"You're hungry," Daisy stated with absolute certainty.

Hearing her, Xavier rubbed his stomach. He was, a little.

Daisy trotted into the house. "I'll make you dinner."

She hadn't finished her classes today, so she missed out on the free cafeteria food and had to cook for herself.
