Xavier Sterling was lying in his hospital bed, negotiating with a staff member. "Give me the tablet. I want to see what Daisy is doing right now."
How could the staff member dare do that?
He repeatedly refused, "You should just rest well. Electronics aren't good for your recovery."
"Cut the bullshit." Xavier reached out a hand. "Give it to me."
"Xavier," Julian Sterling's voice rang out as he smoothly walked into the room.
Seeing him, Xavier reined in his hostility and called out, "Dad, what are you doing here?"
Chloe Lowell was the one who replied. "I heard you were hurt, Xavier, so we came to see you."
Xavier's brow furrowed. "Who the hell gave you permission to use my first name? Keep your distance."
Chloe's expression stiffened, and a second later, she looked ready to cry. "Xavier, I... I'm the one who swapped places with you. My name is Chloe Lowell."
Xavier didn't even spare her a glance. He turned to Julian and said, "Perfect timing. Look, my injury really isn't serious. It's no big deal. I've been stuck here for two days. I need to go back."
Julian sat down next to him, lifting the blanket to glance at the bandages on his leg. "Want to go home?"
Xavier looked utterly baffled. "Why would I go home?"
Julian: "...?"
Julian was equally surprised. "You're not going home?"
"Of course I'm going back to Lowell Village." Xavier's brow furrowed again. "You don't understand, there's this kid there, super cute..."
"Daisy?"
"Oh, you know about her."
"Your mother and I watched a bit of the show."
"Yeah, that makes things easier. ...I'll just say it straight. Daisy can't live without me! I have to go back and take care of her." Xavier said this without an ounce of guilt.
Even though Daisy was the one cooking for him, he could brush Daisy's hair!
