Chapter 86 The Right of the Real Daughter
Vienna clenched her jaw. “No matter what it costs, I’ll bring in Dr. Blanton to treat her. With Dr Blanton and my family joining forces, I’m sure we can make her walk again.”
Ava never said she wanted to fully recover; she just demanded to walk again.
As long as she could walk, that was good enough.
Since the lawyer was recording everything, there was no way she could back out later.
“Happy now?” Neil glared at Venus. “Step outside. I need a word with you.”
Venus didn’t move.
“I said, come out!” Neil’s voice rose. ‘Don’t disturb Ms. Clayton’s rest. Outside-now.”
Venus gave him a look but continued to ignore her. Instead, she said softly to Ava, “Dr. Blanton’s the best there is. With him here, you can relax-at least halfway.”
Vienna’s eyes narrowed.
Halfway with Dr. Blanton?
What did that mean?
Is she saying my family is useless. that we couldn’t help at all?
This girl is so annoying!
Ava nodded, tears glistening in her
eyes.
Only then did Venus stroll out of the room. She looked at Neil and said lazily, “If you’ve got something to say, spit it out.”
Neil’s face darkened. “Dad wants you to move back home. He even built you a place out back. I don’t agree with it, but you’ve been wandering around pretending to be some kind of oracle; it giving the family a bad name. Go home.”
“Megan will find a maid to take care of you. You won’t have to live under the same roof with us. You’ll be out of our way.”
Venus chuckled. ‘Pretending to be an oracle, huh?”
Neil sneered. “Isn’t that what you’re doing? You’re not even related to Ms. Clayton. Why are you fighting for her like this? You just want to scam her money, don’t you?
“When you move back, you’ll have food and a roof over your head. Dad said he’ll give you 5.000 dollars a month for expenses. That’s more than enough.
‘Move home and stop embarrassing yourself here.”
As he said that, Neil deliberately glanced back toward Vienna, who was still inside the hospital ward.
Venus chuckled softly. “I didn’t take a dime from Ava. I just can’t stand watching powerful people crush the weak.”
Neil’s eyes widened in disbelief. ‘Crush the weak? What are you even talking about? Oliver’s jus a kid. He’s barely an adult, like you. He made a mistake, that’s all! His family is paying the compensation and covering Ms. Clayton’s medical expenses. How is that crushing’ her?”
Venus’ gaze turned icy. “Oh really? Then why did Vienna bring a lawyer to threaten her?”
Neil defended, “She did that to solve the problem, obviously.”
Venus tilted her head. “If this is about solving a problem, why drag her mother-in-law into it as leverage?”
Neil snapped, “You-there’s no reasoning with you!” Frustrated, he changed the subject. “Anyway, just come home. Stop wasting your time trying to scam money out of Ms. Clayton.”
Venus looked at him with a ridiculed look. “Do you really think letting me come home is some huge favor?”
Neil lifted his chin slightly. “Isn’t it?”
“I’ve never seen Dad bow to anyone,” he added coldly. “Venus, you should be grateful. The whole family’s been swallowing their pride for your sake. Isn’t it time you stopped acting out?”
He looked her up and down. “You’ve been stirring up drama for days to get the privileges that the real daughter of the family deserves, right? Well, fine. Dad already agreed. You’ll live alone get a monthly allowance, have no need to work, and have everything you need. Food, housing spending money. Isn’t that good enough for you?”
Venus smiled faintly. “Of course not.”
“5,000 dollars isn’t enough for you?” Neil snapped. ‘Go ask around. Fresh college grads barely make 3,000 dollars a month. Giving you five is already generous!”
Neil was stunned by how shameless she was.
Venus gave him a cold smile. “I wasn’t going to bring it up, but since you mentioned how much
