Chapter 5/ SUTTUIT THE SPHL TIMON L
But your mother’s gone too far. Stop her, and protect what’s left of your family.”
The salt slowly gathered into a new word. OK.
She drew a breath, her tone softening. “Your daughter’s soul has already been taken to rest. You may go and see her now.”
The salt shimmered once more and settled into two words. THANK YOU.
When the ritual was complete, Venus burned frankincense, letting the smoke rise like a prayer to carry his spirit safely back to the other side.
That night, the Menzies all dreamed of Gregory-the man they’d buried long ago.
In the dream, he came back like a vengeful ghost, furious and covered in blood. He beat them all mercilessly, shouting that they had bullied his wife and child. He warned them that if they ever dared to hurt them again, he’d drag them down to settle the score himself.
Linette woke up drenched in cold sweat. At first, she brushed it off, thinking she just missed her son too much.
But when she went to meet her relatives the next morning, planning to visit the hospital again and demand more money, she noticed something strange. Every one of them turned pale the moment she mentioned Gregory’s name. No one wanted to go. One by one, they all made excuses and backed away.

Ava’s heart dropped. She made a weak sound. desperate to object, but her body wouldn’t move.
Wilmot snorted again. “You better take what you can get. If your mother-in-law signs, the whol payment goes to her. You won’t see a single dime. What a shame that’d be.”
Ava’s eyes brimmed with helpless tears as she looked at Venus.
Venus gave Ava a reassuring look, then turned her gaze toward Vienna. “I heard Dr. Byrne is known for her skill,” she said evenly. “If she can help Ms. Clayton recover from paralysis and walk again-”
Before Vienna could answer, Neil walked in. He overheard the last part of Venus’s words and le out a cold, sarcastic laugh. “Vienna waking Ms. Clayton up was already a miracle.” he said coldly “Getting her to walk again? That’d take divine power; no human doctor is capable of that.”
Venus frowned. She hadn’t expected Neil to throw ethics out the window just to defend Vienna
Ava’s tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Dr. Burn.” Venus said, her voice cutting through the room like ice, “do you really think it’s professional to tell your patient, to her face, that she’ll never recover?”
Neil’s face stiffened. He looked at the crying Ava, hesitated, then steeled himself. “Ms. Clayton, understand how much you want to get better, but your injuries from the crash are too severe. Dr. Byrne already performed a miracle bringing you back. Walking again, it’s unlikely. I just hope you can be mentally prepared for that.”
Vienna quickly added, “Don’t worry, Ms. Clayton. My family will cover all your future medical costs. I’ll hire the best medical team to look after you.”
But Ava only cried harder.
Neither of them understood why she wasn’t “grateful” enough.
Neil thought Venus was the one stirring things up, trying to help Ava squeeze out more compensation.
He pulled Vienna aside and whispered, “Vienna, you should talk to Ms. Clayton alone. Don’t let Venus butt in. Nothing good happens when she’s around.”
Vienna sighed helplessly. “I don’t get it. Why is she even involved? Did Ms. Clayton promise her something to make her cause trouble?”
“Neil, my brother’s being held by the police,” Vienna said anxiously. “I have to get a settlement agreement from Ava, or he’s done for. Can you make Venus stay out of this?”
Neil looked at her pitiful face and gave in easily. “Alright. I’ll do my best to keep her away.”
He turned around, ready to pull Venus aside.
Before he could. Ava spoke in a weak and broken voice, “If… you can… make me…

I’ll… forgive.”
Vienna’s brows furrowed.
Wilmot frowned deeply. “Your injuries are too severe. You’ll never walk again.”
walk
“Is that true?” Vienna asked coldly. “If I can make you walk, you’ll sign the paper for Oliver?”
Ava’s lips trembled. “Yes.”
Neil stared in disbelief. “Vienna, she’s completely paralyzed. Making her walk again? That’s nearly impossible.”
Vienna straightened up. “Then I’ll bring in Dr. Blanton.”
Both Neil and Wilmot froze. “Dr. Blanton? Dr. Blanton—the medical giant?”
