Chapter 89 Sage Healer

Herb finally gets to meet this famous young prodigy, but Vienna gives him an uneasy feeling, as if she were trying to avoid taking responsibility.

Vienna caught the hint of blame in Herb’s tone and quickly explained, “Dr. Blanton, of course I’m doing this for her good. No one wants her to walk again more than I do. But her condition is really severe. With the medical technology we have now, it’s almost impossible.”

“Dr. Blanton,” she added carefully, “you’re one of the most respected figures in the field. Do you think she still has any chance of walking again?”

Herb gave her a glance and said, “Even with all my experience, it would be very difficult.”

Vienna looked disappointed.

“But,” he added, “there is a special technique called the Ninefold Needles. It’s said to cure even long-term. hopeless illnesses. When I was young, I witnessed a sage use it to heal a completely paralyzed patient. It was nothing short of a miracle.”

Vienna’s eyes lit up. “Dr. Blanton, do you know where this doctor is? I’ll send someone to invite him right away!”

Herb shook his head. “The Ninefold Needles are a secret art passed down among sage healers- a lineage that’s existed for over a thousand years. Their techniques are mysterious and profound. You cannot receive the help from a sage healer that easily. It depends on fate.”

He sighed softly. “In my seventy years of life, I’ve only met that sage once. Just once, but it opened my eyes and changed my life. If that sage is here, I’m certain he could heal her.”

“Unfortunately,” he continued, “I only learned a small fraction of it. Combined with your family’s Aether Needle, the best we can do is help her regain some movement in her limbs. She won’t be completely paralyzed, but walking freely again-that might be impossible.”

Vienna said respectfully, “Then please, Dr. Blanton, I’ll count on you.”

Together, the two began the treatment in the hospital room, carefully placing the silver needles into Ava’s body, one after another.

When Venus arrived, there were security guards standing at the door. When she heard Herb was performing acupuncture inside, she didn’t interrupt. Venus simply sat quietly in the hallway to wait.

1.5 hours later, the door opened.

Herb and Vienna stepped out together.

“Vienna,” he said with a warm smile, “I didn’t expect someone your age to show such promise in holistic healing. You’ve inherited your grandfather’s gift. Give it another twenty years, and you’ll surpass him.”

Vienna was drenched in sweat but beaming. “Thank you, Dr. Blanton. That’s too kind of you. I couldn’t have done it without your help.”

He waved a hand. “This was your success, not mine. I only offered some guidance. Most of the credit goes to you.” He checked his watch. “That was just the first round. We’ll begin the second round in two hours. Go get some rest.”

Vienna nodded politely. “You’ve worked hard too, Dr. Blanton. I’ll come get you in two hours.”

“Good,” he said, smiling.

Venus saw Herb and tried to say something, but she caught Vienna glancing at her with a cold and dark look. Then, Vienna subtly stepped in front of Herb, blocking his view of Venus. The two of them laughed and talked as they walked away.

Venus didn’t take it to heart. Herb was still alive. There’d be plenty of chances to talk.

She pushed open the door and stepped inside. “Ava, I came to see you. How are you feeling after Dr. Blanton’s treatment?”

Ava lay in bed, her complexion better than the day before.

“Ms. Oracle, you’re here,” she said, her voice still weak but clearer now, no longer slurred.

She lifted her hand with great effort to show Venus something.

“It was Dr. Byrne who gave me the treatment,” Ava said weakly. “After she did it, I could actually feel a bit of strength coming back to my arms and legs.”

Venus raised an eyebrow. “Not Dr. Blanton?”

Ava shook her head. “He just assisted her. Most of the work was done by Dr. Byrne.”

Venus smiled faintly. “Then I underestimated her. She’s got some real skill after all.”

She pulled up a chair beside the bed and gently placed her hand on Ava’s wrist to check her pulse.

But suddenly-Ava’s whole body started to tremble.

Her muscles stiffened, and she began to convulse.

“Ava!” Venus pressed down on her shoulders.

Ava’s face turned red, her pupils expanding fast.

Spurt!

She spat out a mouthful of dark blood right onto Venus’s chest.
