Chapter 94 Vienna’s Scheme
Herb snorted. “No wonder I always felt something off about that Vienna. The character’s rotten; that’s all there is to it. Someone like her isn’t fit to be my mentee.”

He turned to Venus, eyes gleaming. “But you’re different. Venus, why don’t you mentee?”
Venus chuckled. “I already have a mentor.”
Herb huffed in resentment, “Who’s your mentor? You think he’s better than me? I’d teach you everything I’ve learned in my whole life. You won’t find a mentor as generous as me anywhere in the world!”
Venus only smiled and said nothing.
Herb caught the hint and dropped the subject. Still, he couldn’t help wondering.
Who is Venus’s mentor? Dammit! I want to know.
Neil finally found Vienna sitting on a bench in the hospital’s garden.
She sat there and quietly sobbed.
“Vienna,” he called softly, quietly stepping closer.
“Don’t come near me, Neil,” she sobbed. “I embarrassed myself today. I never thought Venus would turn out to be a sage healer.”
Neil’s chest tightened. “I didn’t see that coming either. We’ve lived under the same roof for a year, and I never knew she knew medicine and was so skilled.”
“Neil,” Vienna cut him off, not wanting to hear another word of praise for Venus.
“The fact that she hid this from your family—don’t you think she has some scheme by being part of your family?”
Neil frowned. “Now that you mention it, if I hadn’t seen it myself today, I wouldn’t have believed Venus was a sage healer too.”
“She probably picked up a few tricks from some backwoods healer in a mountain town,” Vienna muttered bitterly. “How could her limited knowledge ever compare to mine?”
Neil nodded, trying to comfort her. “You graduated from a top medical school. Venus just got lucky, that’s all. Some fluke that saved Ms. Clayton by accident. Don’t waste your time being upset over someone like her.”

Vienna wiped her tears and managed a smile. “From the way you talk, it sounds like you don’t like her very much.”
Neil snorted, clearly annoyed. “My whole family has been a mess because of her lately. That girl is a walking disaster. I can’t stand people like her.”
Vienna tilted her head, pretending to sigh. “Still, we have to admit-Ms. Clayton’s recovery is thanks to her. If I’d known Venus could actually save her, I wouldn’t have bothered inviting Dr. Blanton here to treat Ms. Clayton alongside him.”
Neil frowned, thinking that over. “Wait-so before Venus showed up, you and Dr. Blanton had already given Ms. Clayton treatment?”
Vienna nodded earnestly. “Yes. It’s mostly me. Dr. Blanton just assisted me.”
Neil’s face lit with sudden realization. “I knew it! She just got lucky-that’s all!”
Vienna looked at him curiously. “What do you
mean?”
“Think about it,” Neil said, lowering his voice like he’d solved a mystery. “You and Dr. Blanton treated Ms. Clayton first. That’s why her condition improved. Venus came in later and took all the credit. The real hero here is you.”
Vienna spoke modestly, “I don’t care about recognition. As long as Ms. Clayton recovers and signs the paper to release Oliver, that’s all that matters.”
Then it hit her. Ava’s condition had stabilized. That meant now was the perfect time to act. Without wasting a second, Vienna grabbed the lawyer and hurried back to the ward.
Inside, Venus was quietly explaining Ava’s upcoming rehab plan.
The lawyer marched in and placed the document in front of Ava. “Ms. Clayton, please sign this.”
Ava let out a sharp, bitter laugh. “Oliver killed my daughter. And she just passed away not long ago, and you already here to force me to forgive the killer? Do you think that’s appropriate?”
Vienna spoke softly in an apologetic tone, “Oliver’s only eighteen. He’s just a kid. Ms. Clayton, I understand your pain. Losing a loved one is unbearable. I’m willing to increase the compensation. How about 4 million dollars?”
“4 million dollars?”
A sharp, eager voice cut through the air.
Mark rushed in through the doorway, face glowing with excitement. “4 million dollars works! When will the payment go through?”
