Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 152 by Ansel Bick
Bianca looked at him blankly. "Work is the only thing that makes me forget the nightmare."
A single tear slipped silently down her cheek. That lost child had never truly moved on from her heart.
Milo fell silent. He had been working relentlessly lately, hoping to take over his family's empire so he could wield enough power to stand against Mathis.
He wanted to help her destroy the person she hated most.
Milo's all-day presence at her house made the man staring at his phone very uncomfortable.
Mathis checked his screen every few minutes, waiting to see if Milo had left.
But the man was still there.
He wanted nothing more than to fly over and see her, but in her current state, she would never allow it.
Worse still, he didn't dare let her know he was secretly keeping tabs on her, terrified that if she found out, he'd lose the chance to ever see her again.
That night, Mathis returned to the Begonia House and sat in the music room he had specially prepared for her.
Since her car accident, he hadn't seen her play the Zither once.
He cursed himself under his breath. "What the hell did you do?"
But some things, once started, couldn't easily be undone.
Perhaps his choices had been wrong from the very beginning.
All his life, he had calculated every risk and reward, and he had never missed.
This time, he had pushed too far and lost her completely.
The calming incense he sent over had been flatly rejected.
The antique Zither he had won at Christie's, along with the jade pendant his grandfather had given her, were all delivered right back to his office.
She was drawing a hard line.
Bianca admired his competence. "You really do have a knack for business. Your dad shouldn't be worried about handing the company over to you now."
Milo sighed. "He's still evaluating me. I just graduated not too long ago, so I have to keep grinding. Once I have the money and the power, I'll help you ruin Cynthia and her father."
Bianca offered a faint smile. "I'll handle my own battles, Milo. I won't go tomorrow night. It's your company's internal celebration—it would be awkward if I crashed it. But thank you for taking care of me these past few weeks. I'll get you a nice gift."
She was never one to rely on men. Mountains fall, and people walk away.
Milo knowing not to push her, dropped the invitation.
Bianca thoughtfully selected an antique painting from an auction house for him.
She knew he had a deep appreciation for traditional culture, and his games heavily featured those aesthetics.
Milo absolutely loved the gift.
He grinned at her. "You even figured out my exact tastes. Are you sure you're not falling for me even a little?"
