Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 174 by Ansel Bick
The night before Mabel died, it was Marcus Wilder who had made the phone calls to assist her, hoping Bianca would finally divorce Mathis.
He would never tell a soul that Mabel only took such a desperate gamble because she was terminally ill.
He wanted Bianca to harbor an unforgiving hatred toward Mathis, leaving zero room for reconciliation.
Feigning ignorance about the explosive fallout, Marcus offered his usual greeting. "Mr. Jagger. What a coincidence. Here on vacation?"
Mathis's expression was freezing. He rarely smiled to begin with, but since Bianca vanished, his demeanor had grown downright hostile.
"Business trip."
Marcus quickly turned to his son to make a pointed remark. "Take a look at Mr. Jagger's work ethic, Milo. Working through the holidays. Not like you, always just looking for the next party."
Mathis didn't have the patience to entertain them and continued walking.
Watching his retreating figure, Marcus muttered to his son, "Serves him right."
Ingrid Wilder had recently noticed that Cynthia hadn't been flaunting her lifestyle on social media over the holidays, and Mathis was only traveling with his staff.
Her curiosity piqued, she jogged to catch up with him. "Did you finally dump your mistress?"
A layer of frost settled over Mathis's naturally cold features. "What does it matter to you? I'm not interested in you."
Ingrid straightened up. "I'm not looking to steal anyone's man. I'm just genuinely curious if you're keeping her around."
If Mathis was no longer playing Cynthia's bodyguard, her father could finally go after the Quinn family.
Understanding her motive, Mathis's dark eyes hardened. "She is not someone you can touch."
Ingrid let out a short, incredulous laugh. "So the tramp is still your precious darling. Your wife would die of a broken heart if she knew."
Mathis thought of Bianca's absolute resolve to leave him. She hadn't shown an ounce of sorrow—only profound, blistering hatred.
"My wife couldn't care less. She was just looking for an excuse to leave me."
