Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 196 by Ansel Bick
Xanthe felt a heavy, suffocating knot in her chest.
Meanwhile, back at the Begonia House, the nanny was putting Aveline to bed.
She had been completely overjoyed after seeing her mother today. Right before dozing off, she mumbled to Mathis, "Daddy, find Mommy."
Mathis gently stroked her hair. "Okay. We'll go see her tomorrow."
Zane walked in to deliver his report.
"The men from those three vehicles today work for Neville Quinn. He intended to have them abduct both your wife and your daughter.
As for what they planned to do with her afterward, the mercenaries claim they weren't told, and despite our best... interrogation methods, they haven't given us any more details. Thankfully, your wife was sharp enough to lose them before we even had to intervene."
Zane paused, waiting for Mathis to issue his usual ruthless orders. Instead, Mathis spoke in a slow, detached drawl. "Let them go."
"Let them go?!" Even with his ironclad professional composure, Zane's voice cracked in pure shock.
"Didn't you explicitly order us to protect them? They literally tried to kidnap them, and we're just letting them walk?"
What was the boss doing? His mistress had tried to harm his legal wife and his own child, and he was giving them a free pass?
Zane genuinely felt like Mathis was going to drive him insane.
Mathis shot him a freezing glare, his eyes brimming with absolute, unquestionable authority.
"I don't pay you to tell me how to do my job. I said let them go."
Zane immediately bowed his head. "Understood."
"Sir, there's one more thing. Someone posted an anonymous leak online detailing your relationship with Ms. Quinn. Even though no names were explicitly mentioned, the source clearly knows a lot of inside information. Everything they stated is entirely factual.
Netizens are already connecting the dots and guessing it's about the two of you. Should we have the PR team scrub the posts?"
Mathis looked at him like he was an idiot. "Do you really need to ask me that? Scrub every trace of it, and find out exactly who leaked it."
He snatched the tablet from Zane's hands and skimmed through the viral thread.
His expression darkened furiously. Whoever leaked this had an intimate knowledge of his private affairs. It was definitely someone in his inner circle—or quite possibly Bianca herself.
Zane had assumed Mathis wouldn't mind the exposure, given how aggressively possessive he was acting over Bianca lately. He figured the boss would welcome the public confirmation of his marriage.
