Summary for Chapter 245: The Transactional Marriage That Imploded

Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 245 by Ansel Bick

Bianca pouted dismissively. "Tough luck. I absolutely wouldn't entertain you."

Aside from Theodore Jagger, Bianca wanted absolutely nothing to do with anyone from the Jagger family. None of them were easy to deal with.

Corbin smirked, his lips curving slightly. "Relax, I only have professional appreciation for you. No romantic feelings whatsoever. Ingrid is great—she has a stellar background, she's gorgeous, and she's simple-minded. She's the perfect fit for a wife."

Bianca wanted to ask if his words meant he didn't actually care much for Ingrid, but she held her tongue. They might have been close online, but sitting face-to-face, she realized some lines shouldn't be crossed.

She also had no idea if Corbin knew that Ingrid was secretly using him as a stand-in for Mathis.

The two ate in relative silence, the atmosphere far more formal than their digital banter.

As the meal wound down, Corbin finally revealed the true purpose of his visit. "How did your meeting with Mathis and Cynthia at Stellaride go this morning?"

He had actually had Mathis followed. It was clear he held a lot of intel in his hands.

Bianca increasingly felt that the Jagger men were fundamentally terrifying.

She glanced up at him from the corner of her eye. "What kind of result are you hoping for?"

Corbin put down his silverware and stared directly at her, speaking with deliberate slowness. "I hope you guys completely failed to reach an agreement. Whatever your personal reason is for freezing out Aeterna, I don't care. I just hope you continue to ignore them."

"Why?"

"Aeterna's market cap is already inflated enough. If it goes up any further, Mathis will execute a classic high-level cash out. Not only will his personal wealth multiply exponentially, but Dawnstar Capital will benefit massively as well. If that happens, his position within Dawnstar will be entirely untouchable.

"Mathis cheated on you in the most high-profile way possible. I refuse to believe you can just swallow that anger. We have a common enemy, which means we can be allies."

Bianca completely understood his logic, but she didn't trust Corbin for a second.

"I have no reason to ally with you. No matter how terribly Mathis treats me, he is still my daughter's father. Destroying him brings me absolutely no benefit."
