Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 277 by Ansel Bick
The opening of Ingrid Wilder's art exhibition had drawn a crowd of major VIPs, including prominent figures from the art world, all gathering for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Marcus Wilder and Karis were both in attendance, fully committed to supporting their daughter's career.
Marcus was quite fond of Bianca. He struck up a conversation with her about the latest developments in computing power, marveling that her brain seemed perfectly hardwired for algorithms.
The only issue Karis had with Bianca was the fact that she was currently married, but since her son was infatuated with her, her objections had grown much quieter.
As Ingrid's boyfriend, Corbin was naturally there as well, looking particularly sharp in a tailored suit.
While he was by Ingrid's side, he didn't attempt to approach Bianca.
Bianca strongly disliked Corbin. She felt he was just as manipulative and deeply calculating as Mathis.
Being around people like that was utterly exhausting.
She asked Milo quietly, "You warned your sister about him, yet they're still acting this close?"
At the mention of it, Milo clearly grew irritated. "It's like he's brainwashed her. They're actually planning to get engaged in a few days.
My parents flew in specifically to meet his family. The plan is for them to get engaged, move in together for a while, and if it works out, they'll tie the knot."
Bianca was completely floored by the news, needing several moments to process it.
Her mind immediately jumped to the worst. Ingrid was straightforward and completely lacked malice.
Would Corbin eventually manipulate her until she had absolutely nothing left?
Every glance, every movement of Corbin's practically bled calculated ambition. The only reason he had ever lost out was because he had run into a monster even worse than himself in Mathis. He was definitely not someone to take lightly.
Even though she foresaw disaster, she had no intention of interfering with other people's lives.
The last time she had stuck her nose into someone else's drama, it had dragged Mathis into the picture. She absolutely wasn't getting involved this time.
Noticing her hesitation, Milo said, "Everyone has to walk their own path. If she's determined to dive headfirst into this, there's nothing anyone can do."
He pointed over at Xanthe and Hector Goodwin, who were currently looking incredibly cozy. "Look at Xanthe. She's normally the smartest person in the room, but the second she falls in love, her brain melts. She's actually dating a divorce lawyer. I even teased her that she found herself a specialist—if they ever split, at least she won't have to pay consultation fees."
While chatting, they walked into the main commercial art gallery. The expansive, high-ceilinged space was immaculate and airy. Soft, ambient lighting bathed the entire area in a warm glow, gently illuminating the exquisite artwork on display.
Bianca lightly nudged him. "Can't you at least be optimistic about them? Maybe Hector is different. Not all men are terrible."
It was just her terrible luck to end up with a man like Mathis.
