Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 294 by Ansel Bick
Mathis's chest tightened with an all-consuming pain, but on second thought, if she cared this much, she was probably just jealous.
Deciding not to hold it against her, he called his driver and had him bring up the spare clothes from his car. Only after changing did he finally pick up Aveline and sit down to eat.
Bianca still wanted to kick him out, but he stubbornly refused to leave. It wasn't until Milo almost got into a physical fight with him that Bianca finally dropped it.
She let him stay.
But having Mathis there completely ruined the atmosphere, causing Bianca to lose her appetite after just a few bites.
Milo looked at her with concern. "Are you only going to eat that much? Won't you be hungry later?"
"I don't have an appetite," she said listlessly. Just thinking about Mathis being all cozy with Cynthia in the conference room during the day and then coming over here to play the devoted ex-husband at night made her want to smash her bowl into his face.
Mathis, however, ate as if nothing were wrong. He didn't care whether Bianca had an appetite or not.
All that mattered to him was that he was sharing a meal with her.
Milo was utterly speechless. Once again, he was struck by the harsh reality of Mathis's pure selfishness.
The man didn't care about Bianca's well-being in the slightest.
After dinner, Bianca tried reasoning with Mathis. "Can you please stop coming over to ruin my mood while I'm trying to eat?"
Mathis shot a glance at Milo on the sofa and replied, "Don't bring other men home, and I won't come over to eat."
Bianca rolled her eyes. "His sister's engagement party is the day after tomorrow, and he's heading back right after. He took great care of me in Austin City. Now that he's in Kingsbridge City, shouldn't I be a good host?"
Mathis stared at her with deep affection in his eyes. "Don't you realize he has an ulterior motive when it comes to you?"
His feigned devotion made Bianca physically sick. She felt like she was going to throw up her dinner from the night before.
Bianca snapped, "Of course I know. But unlike you, he doesn't resort to underhanded tactics. He actually respects me."
Mathis's face darkened instantly. "Don't compare him to me."
Bianca thought to herself, *You're absolutely right. You're barely human, and Milo is a hundred times the man you are.*
The conversation died there. Mathis pulled out his laptop to work. He was personally drafting the memorandum of understanding for the Stellaride partnership.
Bianca took Aveline to the little tent in the nursery to play house, with Milo keeping them company. As long as Milo didn't try to hold Aveline while she was awake, she was perfectly fine with him.
But as they played, Aveline noticed something was missing and insisted on having Mathis join them.
With the three of them acting like a family, Milo felt it was inappropriate to linger. He said his goodbyes to Bianca, reminding her to attend the engagement party the day after tomorrow.
Bianca agreed and got up to walk Milo to the door, which immediately set Mathis off again.
She never walked him to the door. Her attitude toward Milo was entirely different.
Milo, on the other hand, thrived on Mathis's misery. He left the apartment humming a happy tune.
Right before stepping out, Milo gently held her hand. Bianca didn't know why, but the small gesture tugged at something warm in her heart.
