Bianca finally understood why Mathis had lost his mind in the office at noon. He had received Hector's call.

He truly was accustomed to having absolutely everything under his control.

"The company I currently work for was founded by an old college friend of mine," Bianca answered. "Mathis is one of our investors."

Hector's expression turned grave. "Give me the name of the company. Let me look into it."

"Stellaride Computing."

Hector stepped away to make a series of calls. Bianca waited on the couch, eventually drifting off to sleep without realizing it.

When she woke up two hours later, Hector had finished his investigation.

His face was serious. "I strongly advise against suing right now. Given Mathis's resources, crushing a startup would be a walk in the park for him. Based on our conversation today, he will absolutely make you pay if you challenge him."

Hector had seen far too many cheating husbands act ruthlessly toward their original wives. A man of Mathis's status would never tolerate his wife undermining his authority.

Bianca felt a wave of dizziness, her mind latching onto a single, desperate thought: *I have to leave Mathis.*

She looked up, her large, glassy eyes meeting his. "Then what options do I have left?"

While Bianca had been sleeping, Hector had mapped out a new strategy. "The safest route is to sign a formal separation agreement and send it to him via certified mail. Mark it clearly as a declaration of separation. It doesn't matter if he refuses to accept it; just keep the tracking receipt and proof of delivery.

"Provide utility bills proving you are living alone. Once the statutory two-year separation period is up, we file with the court. At that point, he won't have a choice but to sign the papers."

Bianca nodded in agreement. She signed the separation forms Hector had prepared and texted him the address for Dawnstar Capital.

As Hector gathered the paperwork, he said, "I'll mail this out for you tomorrow. This is going to be a difficult path, so I hope you stay strong."

Taking a quick break from debugging, Bianca replied: [It's true. I heard Mathis even gave Cynthia shares in Progenix. They're flaunting their love right under my nose every single day!]

Xanthe called her immediately, her voice shrill with anger. "Bianca! Why the hell haven't you divorced a man like that? What are you waiting for, Christmas?"

"It's complicated to explain over the phone," Bianca said softly. "Let's get dinner this weekend and I'll tell you everything."

She hung up and dove back into her work.

Testing wasn't going smoothly today, so Bianca didn't hesitate to stay late with her team. Because her team was working overtime, Cynthia was forced to stay late too.

Cynthia shooed away the technicians near Bianca and complained loudly, "Just because you don't have a man to go home to doesn't mean the rest of us want to work late. I have to go keep Mathis and my son company."

Bianca shot her a look of disbelief, taking in Cynthia's arrogant smirk.
