Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 33 by Ansel Bick
Bianca lowered her head and continued typing, her tone entirely dismissive. "No one is forcing you to stay. You're just here to pad your resume anyway; it's not like you actually care about contributing to the project. When it's done, your name will be on the credits regardless, so why pretend to work?"
Bianca didn't have the best temper. Looking at Cynthia, her fingers itched to slap her again. The last time this woman had pushed her, it had landed Bianca in the hospital and forced her back to the Jagger Estate.
Knowing she wasn't currently a match for Mathis, Bianca figured it was best not to provoke them.
Hector had already sent her the return receipt for the separation agreement. Their diverging paths had officially begun, and she had no desire to be coerced into playing house by Mathis again, risking the invalidation of her separation claim.
Cynthia scoffed coldly. "I knew not having a man around would make you bitter and twisted. Let me tell you something: I was born better than you. You're destined to be nothing more than a lowly employee for the rest of your life."
Bianca took a deep breath, swallowing the urge to strike her, and walked away with her laptop.
Meanwhile, in Cynthia's office, Mathis received a stack of documents from Quincy, brought over from Dawnstar Capital. Among them was the separation agreement Hector had mailed.
Glancing at the memo on the envelope, Mathis didn't even bother tearing it open. He crumpled the entire package into a ball and tossed it straight into the trash can.
He pulled out his phone and texted Bianca: [I'm not signing.]
To avoid setting off another one of his psychotic episodes, Bianca simply ignored the message.
She let out a long, quiet breath. The clock on their separation had officially started.
Every step from here on out had to be calculated carefully.
Saturday rolled around. Thanks to the pregnancy fatigue, Bianca slept straight through to noon.
Xanthe came over and looked at her in confusion. "Since when did you become such a heavy sleeper?"
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, Bianca smiled. "I don't have to play maid anymore, so I get to sleep in!"
"Well, tonight your favorite orchestra is playing!" Xanthe said excitedly. "Wanna go? You've been so gloomy lately, either buried in overtime or cooped up in this apartment. If you keep this up, I swear you're going to get depressed. Let's go out and have some fun!"
"You always know what to say. Oh, by the way, I invited Cillian to tag along."
"Sounds good."
When they arrived at the Royal Lyceum, Cillian Calder was already there, holding two fruit teas for them.
Bianca took the tea with a sweet smile. "Thanks, Cillian. You're the best."
"I know you two have a sweet tooth," Cillian chuckled.
Ever since her mother had been hospitalized, Bianca had craved sugar intensely. Life was bitter enough as it was; if she didn't have something sweet, she felt like she would break.
Xanthe went to the box office to grab their tickets, but returned a few minutes later empty-handed. Curious, Bianca asked, "Are tickets really that tight today?"
Xanthe's face was dark with rage. "That mutt Mathis booked the entire venue! His assistant just told me. He brought that tramp with him. God, what horrible luck, running into those two the second we step out of the house. Next time we go out, I'm checking my horoscope."
