Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 333 by Ansel Bick
She desperately wanted to reject him on the spot.
Annelise grabbed her arm and whispered a warning, "Don't, Maia. Mr. Jagger doesn't always have this kind of patience.
Your family's money is gone. Without Dawnstar's backing, keeping this company afloat will be almost impossible."
Reluctantly, Maia accepted Mathis's proposal for a formal meeting.
Once he had her answer, Mathis completely lost interest in making small talk with her.
Acuity was currently valued at around two hundred million, a project Mathis normally wouldn't bother handling personally. But he saw exactly where Acuity was heading.
He predicted that after going public, its market cap would multiply twenty-five times over. That was the only reason he was willing to step in and secure the deal for his team.
Besides, Bianca had shut him out tonight, Aveline was with his mother, and he couldn't stand the thought of spending another evening alone in his dead, empty house.
Yet, even surrounded by a lively crowd, he felt completely isolated.
Every memory of the years he spent with Bianca seeped into his veins. All his moments of joy had been built on her suffering.
Every ounce of tolerance she had shown him came from her love—a love he had never once treasured.
Mathis stood alone on the deck, letting the cold wind hit him, projecting an aura that warned everyone to stay away.
Simon walked over with a glass of liquor. Seeing him only fueled Mathis's anger.
His icy expression hardened even further as he asked, "What, here to laugh at me for being alone? Just as you hoped, Bianca refuses to forgive me."
Simon didn't seem bothered by the hostility. He simply clinked his glass against Mathis's.
Taking a sip, Simon said softly, "Did you know that Pride is the deadliest of the Seven Deadly Sins? Your arrogance has been hurting your wife for years.
If you genuinely want her back, you need to fix your attitude."
Mathis let out a bitter laugh. "I have no idea how much more pathetic I can get in front of her, and she still won't even look at me."
Simon's tone remained cool. "Are you planning to give up on her, then?"
"Never." Mathis stared intensely at the Brightmere River. The neon lights from the commercial district fractured across the dark water, and the night breeze carried the damp chill of the river against his face.
The current rushed forward endlessly, much like the invisible passage of time.
Time really did fly. Twelve years had already passed.
All those years he had loved her, only for endless chaos to finally tear them apart.
Mathis murmured, "I've loved her for so long. Even if she doesn't love me back, I'm going to keep her by my side."
Simon was stunned. "Since she hasn't forgiven you, don't you find this constant, obsessive chasing exhausting?"
Mathis glanced at Simon's calm, composed face. He couldn't fathom how Simon could be in love with someone and just quietly admire them from afar.
