But losing his temper would accomplish nothing. The plan to tear them apart was already quietly in motion.

Just then, an exquisitely dressed woman carrying a wine glass slowly approached him.

She was a new face, definitely not from their usual social circle.

The woman looked to be around twenty, with an absolutely flawless complexion.

Mathis was suddenly struck by the memory of Bianca telling him how she had fallen for him the very first time she saw him.

She had been twenty years old back then, too.

Using the subtle rocking of the yacht, the woman pretended to lose her footing and stumbled right toward Mathis.

She reached out, aiming for his arm, her voice dripping with sugary sweetness. "Mr. Jagger, I'm so sorry, I lost my balance."

She purposely leaned into his chest. A subtle perfume drifted into Mathis's senses—it smelled strikingly similar to Bianca's scent.

Bianca didn't wear perfume; the faint fragrance she carried always came from her everyday skincare products.

Her routine was incredibly simple: toner, moisturizer, and eye cream.

She could finish her routine in under two minutes after a shower.

She had never cared much about her appearance, a stark contrast to Evita and Rosalind. Honestly, she cared even less than his grandmother did.

Evita spent hundreds of thousands a month on her face, and Rosalind was obsessed with maintaining her looks.

Both women wouldn't be caught dead without a full face of makeup, whereas Bianca rarely wore anything, occasionally using lip balm in the dead of winter.

She loved going completely bare-faced. Remembering everything about her made Mathis realize just how cowardly he had been back then.

He hadn't dared to truly see her. She had been nothing but genuine, patiently enduring every one of his unreasonable demands.

On the nights when his migraines kept him awake, she would sit by his side, comforting him in the softest of voices.

While Mathis was lost in thought, the woman had fully pressed herself into his arms.

With her soft, fragrant body pressed against him, Mathis finally snapped back to reality and shoved her away forcefully.

His face twisted in disgust. "Get lost!"

The woman wasn't fazed by his aggression. Instead, she smoothly raised her glass to toast him.

She was a seasoned player in these elite circles, well-accustomed to navigating powerful men. Someone had paid her an exorbitant fee to sleep with Mathis tonight, with a massive bonus waiting if she succeeded. She was going to get him into bed no matter what.

He was leagues above the men she usually had to entertain.

In the split second their glasses clinked, a pill that dissolved instantly in alcohol melted into Mathis's glass.

Completely unaware that he had been set up, he finished his drink shortly after.

The woman kept her eyes locked onto him. The drug was incredibly potent. The moment Mathis finished the glass, she immediately stepped forward to support him.

She whispered seductively into his ear, "Mathis, I know you're burning up right now. Let me help you take the edge off."
