Xanthe scoffed. "The Jagger family's pride is truly something else. Attempted disfigurement, and you just brush it off with a quick 'sorry.'

If Bianca had done this to you, your family would have eaten her alive."

Mathis frowned. "No, they wouldn't. I would protect my wife."

Xanthe rolled her eyes at him. "Mr. Jagger, the person who tried to ruin your wife's life is standing right in front of you. Why is she getting a free pass?"

Mathis's expression darkened. He shot Xanthe a lethal glare. "This is between me and my wife. Keep your mouth shut."

He turned to Bianca, who looked entirely indifferent, and asked what she wanted to do.

"Why are you pretending to ask me?" Bianca replied with disgust. "You're not going to listen to what I want anyway."

Mathis looked at her affectionately. "As long as Rosalind doesn't go to prison, you can name your price."

Bianca wasn't naturally vindictive, and she didn't want to ask Xanthe for help right now, fearing Mathis would hold a grudge against her friend.

She thought for a moment. "Transfer half of Rosalind's assets to Aveline. Cut her monthly allowance from your family in half, and absolutely no one in the family is allowed to subsidize her until she graduates college."

Rosalind owned several properties and cars. Jayce's face drained of color, but he didn't dare utter a word.

Rosalind was used to burning through money. Even with a half-million allowance from the family trust, she was always broke.

Cutting it in half was practically a death sentence for her lifestyle. She couldn't handle roughing it.

And since Jayce hit her up for money on a regular basis, a pay cut meant he was going to suffer too.

Rosalind flushed crimson with rage at Bianca's demands. She had never been humiliated like this in her life. She opened her mouth to scream at Bianca, but Mathis shot her a glare so sharp it cut her off instantly.

She lowered her head and muttered, "I... I agree."

"Fine," Bianca said flatly. "I accept your apology." She turned her gaze to Mathis. "Make sure you keep your word."

"I will. You have my word." Mathis dismissed the others but stayed planted exactly where he was.

He put on a pathetic, pleading expression. "Are we okay now? Can you stop being mad at me?"

Xanthe rolled her eyes so hard they almost got stuck. Bianca ignored his plea entirely, stating she only forgave him regarding this specific incident. Anything else was off the table.

Mathis smiled brightly anyway. "Then I'll have dinner with my daughter tonight."

Even though he had to endure Jax's presence, getting to sit with Bianca and Aveline was a million times better than eating alone.

Bianca nodded in agreement.

He tried to ride in her car, but she shut him down immediately.

"We're getting a divorce soon. There's no point in you clinging to me like this."

Mathis's briefly lifted spirits plummeted again. *Of course. She's completely obsessed with Milo; why would she care about me?*

She shared her college struggles with Milo, but never with him.

The double standard was unbearable.

He had to break them up.
