Read The Transactional Marriage That Imploded novel Bianca and Mathis Chapter 353 by Ansel Bick
Annelise could hear the irritation in his voice. He had probably just hit another wall with his wife.
His wife was the only person in the world who could make him lose his cool—and lately, the boss had been losing it quite a lot.
Honestly, it was enviable to be the one woman who could tie a man like him in knots.
"Understood. I'll go let them know," she replied.
When Maia was informed of the rejection, a sour taste flooded her mouth. She found his arrogance borderline insulting.
Annelise offered a polite excuse: "Mrs. Jagger is here, so naturally, Mr. Jagger doesn't have the time to entertain guests."
Maia's expression darkened instantly.
Back in the office, Bianca ignored the business interruption and simply asked if he wanted her to take Aveline with her. He said no.
Looking heartbroken, Mathis said, "You saw everything I've done for you, yet you don't even care. I need my daughter here to calm me down. She, at least, doesn't make me angry."
Aveline was currently hugging his neck, softly comforting him.
"Don't be mad, Daddy. Remember, you have to coax Mommy."
Bianca let out a quiet sigh. "If you had told me all of this when my mother passed away, I wouldn't have left in a fit of anger. But what's missed is missed. Let's just take care of ourselves."
With that, she walked out of his office. Everyone in the executive suite watched as she left with unhurried grace.
The confident sway of her stride made them all secretly envy her absolute self-assurance.
Whispers immediately broke out.
"She can drive the boss absolutely crazy, so of course she's confident. Have you ever seen anyone else melt the iceberg on his face?"
"Cynthia. The boss treated her like gold back then. She had free rein over his office and even got the highest-tier access card."
The group winced in unison. Mathis had elevated her to the heavens, only to ensure her fall was catastrophically painful.
"When he was supposedly Cynthia's boyfriend, his wife didn't get this kind of treatment. She had to wait for him for hours."
"Exactly. When a man loves you, you're a treasure. When he doesn't, you're just dirt."
"So how long is she going to stay his treasure this time?"
"Who knows? The man is ruthlessly competent and a master manipulator. He played his own wife until she had nothing left."
With her sharp hearing, Bianca caught every word of their gossip.
They were right. He was terrifying. Staying by his side was like throwing an egg against a rock.
