The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 149

"Understood."

With that, the operatives dragged her out of the room.

Given the massive scale of tonight's operation, keeping a lid on the gossip would require moving mountains.

Morgan spoke up. "Should I bring in more assets from Blackwood City to handle the cleanup?"

"No. Let her deal with it. If she can't even handle a simple cover-up, she has no business running the Obsidian Court."

The organization didn't tolerate useless people.

Juno's secret identity had already been exposed to her family tonight, yet she was still determined to keep her survival a secret. Why?

Reading his mind, she offered the answer freely. "The Yates family thinks I'm dead, so they aren't looking in my direction. When Chuck finally moves against them, I need to be the ace up his sleeve."

So it all came back to Chuck.

A moment later, an operative stepped inside. "Boss, the Corringtons are awake."

She stood up, looking at Morgan. "Stay here. I'll go check on them."

"Yes, ma'am."

Following the operative to another suite, the door was opened for her.

The four family members were sitting in a neat row. The moment she walked in, they all jumped to their feet and rushed over.

"Are you hurt?!"

"Are you completely insane?! Why would a girl run into a situation like that by herself? Have you never heard of the police?!"

"Seeing you standing there alone almost gave me a heart attack!"

They all started talking over each other in a chaotic, messy panic, but it sent a surge of warmth through her chest.

Gwendolyn looked heartbroken. "Why isn't she saying anything? Oh god, she must be in shock."

Harrison wrapped an arm around his wife. "Alright, alright. This isn't the place. Let's just get her home."

Gwendolyn grabbed her daughter's hand tightly. "You're right."

Morgan had an armored SUV waiting outside. Seeing them approach, he stepped out and opened the door.

The family exchanged silent, knowing glances, but nobody asked any questions.

"That's our sister, Juno. I told you about her in the group chat."

Right, there was something about a sister.

So what if she was his sister?! Did that give her the right to push his face?!

Harrison shot him a withering look. "You're a grown man. Start acting like one!"

That single sentence froze Rylan in his tracks.

He hadn't been home in a while, but his dad was definitely getting scarier.

The family completely ignored the luggage blocking the doorway, stepping right over it as they walked inside.

Now that the masters of the house had returned, the maids finally started creeping out from the hallways.

Rylan's voice cracked an octave higher. "There were people here this whole time?!"

The staff immediately bowed their heads in panic.

"If you were here, why didn't anyone answer when I called out?!" Was he really that unloved?
