The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 158

Chuck rubbed his cheek affectionately against hers, unable to hide the smile in his eyes. “You know me too well. The Imperium is mine.”

Juno nodded.

She had figured as much.

The only person capable of elevating an organization so rapidly was Chuck.

Juno stayed in the study for about half an hour before heading downstairs.

Morgan glanced over at the passenger seat. Miles had been snoring loudly since exactly ten minutes after getting in the car.

Morgan shoved his shoulder, signaling him to get out.

To his surprise, Miles was dead to the world.

After a few more useless shoves, Morgan finally ran out of patience, opened the passenger door, and kicked him out onto the pavement.

“Holy shit!”

Miles tumbled onto the driveway, landing hard on his ass. He sat there dazed, completely unable to process what had just happened.

Juno stepped gracefully around him and got into the car. Before leaving, she casually tossed over her shoulder, “Get some rest, Assistant Miles.”

A blast of exhaust fumes hit him square in the face.

He fell to his knees, coughing violently.

“Honestly, we could have dug up that intel ourselves,” Morgan stated, his tone devoid of any romance.

There was no need for her to come to Chuck’s place so late at night.

He kept one hand loosely on the steering wheel, staring straight ahead as he casually pointed it out.

Juno kept her head down, scrolling on her phone, her thumbs flying across the screen. “I don’t get to see Chuck normally.”

The implication was crystal clear.

She was just using the investigation as an excuse to see him.

Chuck had been insanely busy lately. He had established The Imperium’s dominance in Kingsland at lightning speed, but dealing with the aftermath and securing their foothold required endless work.

Morgan didn’t say another word, driving her back in comfortable silence.

When Juno scaled the wall to slip back into the estate, she found Rylan standing in the exact same spot, waiting.

Juno sat quietly in the backseat, her expression completely indifferent.

When they arrived, Jeremy Jagger’s usual easygoing smile was nowhere to be seen.

Spotting Juno, he hurried over. “Juno, can you get in touch with Kian Zimmer?”

Dr. Kian Zimmer was a ghost. Ordinary people didn’t have his contact info, and if Juno hadn’t called him over last time, they never would have even met him.

They were out of options.

Jeremy couldn’t trust any other doctors right now.

Juno walked straight toward the sickroom. “I’ll go in and take a look.”

Kaelen Jagger stepped directly into her path. “What the hell are you going to do? If you know Kian Zimmer, call him immediately! Stop screwing around!”

“Kaelen!”

Jeremy grabbed his brother’s arm. “Juno is the one who cured her last time. Just stop talking!”

“Bullshit! It looked like she cured her, but Kian Zimmer was in the room with her! I bet Kian did the actual surgery, and she just fed us some lies to steal the credit! I absolutely will not let her treat Mother. This isn’t a game!”
