Rhiannon immediately jumped on the opportunity to fan the flames. “Exactly, Juno. You don’t hold some sort of grudge against Grandma, do you? Is that why you’re refusing to call Dr. Zimmer?”
Juno’s tone was laced with raw arrogance. “Yeah, that’s exactly what it means.”
After shutting Rhiannon down, she turned her sharp gaze back to Kaelen, her voice unwavering. “I won’t call Kian. He doesn’t work for the Jagger family. Today, either I go in and treat her, or you find yourselves another doctor.”
Her stance left zero room for negotiation.
Kaelen’s face flushed with fury. His pride had been publicly trampled.
Juno was just using her connections to throw her weight around!
He absolutely despised people like her!
Jeremy quickly yanked him back. “You’re a grown man, act like it! Step aside!”
Jeremy was genuinely furious now.
He couldn’t believe his oldest brother was being so blindingly irrational at a time like this!
Jeremy clamped a hand over Kaelen’s mouth and practically dragged him out of the way. “Juno, go in and check on her. Ignore your Uncle Kaelen. His brain is fried.”
Juno watched the pathetic display with cold detachment. Without another word, she changed into scrubs and entered the room.
Even with the door shut, she could clearly hear Kaelen screaming outside. “Did you see her attitude?! This is what happens when you treat her like royalty! You’re just enabling her arrogance!!”
Babur couldn't take it anymore. “Uncle Kaelen, you’re being incredibly out of line. You’re the ones asking her for a favor—why are you acting like this?”
“We’re family! Why does it need to be a 'favor'?! She should be doing this unconditionally!”
The Corringtons were so disgusted by Kaelen’s outburst they were left speechless.
Sebastian cut straight to the core. “Oh, so now she’s family?”
“Sebastian? How can you speak to me like that? Is Juno really so amazing that you’re willing to disrespect your elders for her?!”
Kaelen was stunned. He had never expected Sebastian, who had always been so rational and well-mannered, to openly defy him.
“Uncle Kaelen, I am Juno’s brother first, and your nephew second!”
He was making it glaringly clear: today, he was unconditionally standing by Juno.
Could an elderly woman survive that kind of physical toll?
Panic set in for Jeremy. “Let’s get her to the hospital first.”
Everything else could wait.
Suppressing his anger, Kaelen turned to Rhiannon. “Rhiannon, you’ve been helping look after your grandmother these past few days. Did you notice anything suspicious?”
His tone was remarkably gentle, completely lacking the venom he had unleashed on Juno.
Rhiannon pretended to think hard. “No, I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.”
Kaelen was at a loss for words.
Since Rhiannon wasn't technically blood, he couldn't exactly cross-examine her aggressively.
Politeness was reserved for outsiders.
Hearing his lack of pushback, Rhiannon let out a hidden sigh of relief, a bitter, twisted sense of victory blooming in her chest.
