The group split up. Half of them rushed Matilda to the hospital, while Juno, Sebastian, Babur, and Rylan stayed behind to review the security footage.
As expected, specific segments of the day’s recordings were glitched out. Someone had clearly tampered with them.
The files were corrupted beyond repair. Even with Juno’s elite hacking skills, recovering them was impossible.
Trying to pull evidence from the cameras was a dead end.
Babur muttered in frustration, “Is there really nothing else we can do?”
Between the family members and the staff, there were over a hundred people on the Jagger estate. Finding the culprit in this mess seemed impossible.
A heavy silence settled over the four of them.
Juno finally looked up. “Elderly people with vast assets usually have their estate planning finalized.”
The three brothers looked at her, not entirely following her train of thought.
Juno spoke up. “Leave this to me. You guys go to the hospital.”
The retained lawyers of prominent families were notoriously tight-lipped.
But Juno wasn’t planning on asking nicely. She had Morgan track the lawyer down, kidnap him, and drag him straight to the estate.
The Jagger family’s massive living room was completely cleared out.
The elite corporate lawyer sat rigidly on the sofa, doing his best to maintain a composed facade, but his voice was strained. “Ms. Mercer, if I show you the will, it’s a direct breach of my professional duty. If word of this gets out, no one in this city will ever hire me again.”
Juno was still speaking to him amicably. “Word won’t get out.”
Her long, slender fingers expertly guided a sharp paring knife over an apple. Her movements were elegant, unhurried, and perfectly precise.
The lawyer clearly didn’t believe her, though he tried to hide it. He clutched his leather briefcase tightly against his chest, refusing to let go. “Unless Matilda gives me her explicit consent, I will not show you the documents.”
“Now you’re just testing my patience.”
Juno stopped peeling. She tossed the apple casually onto the table, then flicked her wrist. The knife flew from her hand and buried itself cleanly into the center of the fruit.
The lawyer nearly jumped out of his skin.
An ordinary person couldn’t throw a blade with that kind of deadly precision.
Juno flipped through the documents. “She’s met with you quite frequently recently.”
The lawyer looked startled. How did she know?
Morgan slammed the dagger point-first into the coffee table right in front of him, his expression completely menacing. “She asked you a question!”
The lawyer jumped. “T-Three times. Over the past week.”
Juno easily pieced the puzzle together. “And every time she saw you, it was to reallocate her assets.”
“Yes.”
There was no point in resisting anymore. He was spilling whatever she wanted to know.
Juno’s eyes swept over the pages, taking in the dense legal jargon in mere seconds. She tossed the will onto the table and leaned lazily against the sofa.
“All the recently altered and newly added assets… were given to Rhiannon.”
She didn't ask. She stated it as an absolute fact.
