Babur stared at Rhiannon, who was firmly pinned by the bodyguards. "I honestly never expected she had this side to her."
Juno chewed on a piece of ice, her tone utterly indifferent. "She's an outsider trying to secure her footing in a powerful family. The ambition is completely normal. She was just way too impatient."
If she had just played the long game and used her emotional leverage on Matilda, she would have inherited a decent cut. Not to mention, the Jaggers genuinely liked her and were willing to groom her.
This time, she had completely dug her own grave.
Rhiannon's legs gave out, and she slumped to her knees, too ashamed to meet anyone's gaze.
Kaelen was beyond furious. "Rhiannon, is this how you repay your grandmother?! Has the Jagger family ever mistreated you?! Every single one of us treated you like our own flesh and blood!
Forget us—your grandmother put you first in everything! And this is how you repay her?! How could you even do it?! Manipulating the will behind her back?!"
Rhiannon didn't cry. She just felt deeply humiliated that her grand scheme had been exposed in front of such a massive audience.
"Hah. Put me first?" she spat, finally snapping. "She never saw me as real family! To her, I was just a stray pet. She’d play with me when she was in a good mood and toss me aside the second she was annoyed!
She never planned on leaving me a single dime!"
Rhiannon screamed her long-held resentment, her voice echoing down the hall.
Since they were never going to give her any money anyway, there was no point in pretending to be the dutiful granddaughter.
She had been forced into this. Nobody was born evil.
Listening from the back, Juno arched an eyebrow. For once, Matilda actually had some sense.
Gwendolyn Jagger closed her eyes, the disappointment radiating off her in waves. "You never shared our blood anyway. Pack your things and get out of the Jagger estate."
They couldn't afford to keep a viper in their home.
Rhiannon forced herself to her feet, her glare sweeping across every face in the room. "I will be back."
She would sear their faces into her memory, etch their cruelty into her very bones. One day, she would return and make them all pay.
"I know this is sudden, but Dad is in surgery right now," Caleb rushed out in a panic. "He's hemorrhaging. My blood type doesn't match, so you're our only hope."
The desperation in his voice was palpable.
Rhiannon’s first instinct was to tell him to go to hell, but reality hit her hard. She had nowhere else to go. Crawling back to the Mercers was her only option. Weighing her choices, she reluctantly followed the nurse to get her blood drawn.
A few minutes later, the nurse frowned at the rapid test results. "Your blood type doesn't match either."
Meanwhile, Juno's operatives slipped out of the shady clinic with fresh samples of both Rhiannon's and Mr. Mercer's blood, sending them straight off for a rapid DNA test.
The results were now in Juno's hands.
Zero biological relation.
Rhiannon didn't share a drop of blood with the Mercer family.
So where on earth did she actually come from?
