The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 171

Melba, Rhiannon's biological mother and Titus Talbot's wife.

Juno had read her file in the dossiers.

Juno closed the distance in three strides and hauled Gwendolyn up from the floor with one hand.

Gwendolyn stood beside her, looking at her daughter with eyes full of worry.

Melba looked Juno up and down without bothering to hide her disdain. "You're her daughter? Bursting in here with absolutely no boundaries while adults are talking—do you have any upbringing at all?"

"Hah. You deliberately sent Matilda away, claiming you had private business with my mother, just so you could take your anger out on her. If I hadn't walked in, you would have struck her again. Tell me, why should my mother take a beating from you?! What right do you have to lay a hand on her?!"

By the end of her sentence, Juno's expression was ruthless, utterly disregarding any face the Talbot family might have.

"Sharp tongue!" Melba's chest heaved with fury. "You ask what right I have to hit her?! Fine!"

She chucked a USB drive at Juno. "This has a record of everything you Corringtons have done to my daughter! Every single incident was designed to push her over the edge! And in the end, you dropped the act completely and just kicked her out!"

She then threw a thick stack of photos at her.

The heavy glossy paper hit Juno with a dull thud. Gwendolyn opened her mouth to speak, but Juno held up a hand to stop her. She caught the photos, gave them a passing glance, and tossed them carelessly onto the floor.

Along with them, Melba's dignity shattered on the ground.

Juno simply wasn't going to give her an inch. "How do you even have the nerve to come here and demand answers?"

Juno had come fully prepared. From just a few words from the maid, she had deduced exactly who was visiting. With the identity clear, the motive was easy to guess. That was why she had Morgan send over a dossier on her way in.

Whatever attitude Melba had shown earlier, Juno was returning it tenfold. She slammed the files down onto the table so hard the wood shuddered, sending ripples through the two glasses of juice sitting there.

"Likewise, this documents everything about your daughter. Every single page details exactly why she was thrown out of the Corrington house!"

Melba didn't even glance at it, continuing to argue. "Don't try to change the subject!"

They didn't walk in, choosing to watch from the doorway.

Margie couldn't stand it anymore. "That shrew hit Gwendolyn! Unbelievable!"

Gordon agreed. "I usually find Juno's abrasiveness annoying, but right now, it's incredibly satisfying to watch."

Before Melba could continue her tirade about the Corringtons allegedly abusing her daughter, Juno cut her off. "The elders in this family supported her at every given opportunity. She was the one who threw it all away like dead weight. What gives you the right to so self-righteously claim that we owe her?!"

Melba was beside herself with anger, letting out a manic laugh. "Fine! Let's hear it then!"

"Since you clearly don't want to read the files, I'll waste a few minutes spelling it out for you, just to make sure my kind-hearted mother doesn't go on thinking we actually owe you something."

Melba sneered continuously.

"My father spent a fortune getting her into Northbridge University. He wanted her to have the absolute best education the country could offer so she could make something of herself. But what did she actually do there? With the Talbot family's massive influence, are you telling me you couldn't find out?"
