The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 174

Hearing his childish indignation, Gwendolyn chuckled. "You know exactly what kind of person I am. How could I possibly strike back?"

Harrison was visibly irritated, his voice low and tight. "We usually avoid clashing with the Talbots out of respect for the elders, but there's no need to hold back anymore."

Watching from the side, Juno murmured, "We can move against them, as long as it doesn't hurt the Corrington family's bottom line."

She knew that the Corrington and Talbot corporations had heavily interwoven interests that couldn't be severed overnight.

"My thoughts exactly."

Gwendolyn giggled. "You two barely say a word to each other on a normal day, but now you're suddenly a united front."

Juno and Harrison exchanged a look, both already formulating their plans.

The moment Melba walked through her own front door, she was greeted by her husband's explosive rage. "What the hell did you do today?!"

She paused in the doorway, completely bewildered. "What's wrong?"

"Not only did the Corringtons pull out of all our joint ventures, but some Blackwood City faction came out of nowhere and started ruthlessly poaching our clients! And to top it off, The Imperium just announced that anyone blind enough to do business with the Talbot family will be erased from Jindale City by tomorrow!"

One removed their safety net, one aggressively attacked them, and one applied lethal pressure.

All of this chaos had erupted overnight.

Titus was pulling his hair out in panic.

Melba's stomach dropped. Thinking back to the slap she had given Gwendolyn that afternoon... could it really be because of that?

From that day onward, the Talbot family's revenue was slashed cleanly in half.

Juno still didn't think it was enough. "Keep pressing. I want them on the verge of bankruptcy."

Receiving the order, Morgan went off to make the arrangements.

Consequently, the operatives from Blackwood City became even more unhinged.

The Talbot family didn't have deep generational roots. Even though they held the top position in Jindale City and were a tough nut to crack, no amount of wealth could withstand coordinated annihilation from so many powerful factions at once.

"I'm deeply moved that you did this for me, but it's really not necessary. Can we just call it off?"

Juno agreed immediately, sounding perfectly agreeable. "Sure."

Gwendolyn's eyes lit up. She hadn't expected her to yield so easily. "Really?"

"Yeah. I'll stop the moment the swelling on your face is completely gone. Until then, whatever the Talbots lose is their compensation payment for that slap."

Juno spoke so casually, as if bankrupting the Talbot family was just a minor chore.

And in fact, it was.

Gwendolyn opened her mouth to argue, but Juno cut her off. "Instead of wasting time trying to convince me, you'd be better off holding a cold compress to your cheek to get the swelling down. That's a much faster way to get me to stop."

Gwendolyn stayed quiet.

Where was this overwhelming, domineering CEO energy coming from?
