The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 190

The three of them headed upstairs. The entire third floor was eerily deserted.

The woman led them to a set of doors and gently opened one. "My father is right inside."

Juno stood at the threshold. The room was oppressively stuffy, the thick curtains completely blocking out the sunlight.

The air was completely stagnant.

Because they had entered, the woman switched on a dim, ambient light. A series of weak, rattling coughs immediately echoed from within.

It sounded as if the person coughing might take their last breath at any moment.

Margie's voice was calm and gentle. "Just go in and take a look. If you can't treat him, it's completely fine."

The woman nodded in agreement. "Yes, please don't feel any pressure."

After all, they had consulted countless doctors, and every single one had said there was no hope.

If Juno could treat him, that would be a miracle. If not, they wouldn't force it.

She frankly didn't hold out much hope.

Juno stepped into the room, instantly assaulted by the stale, suffocating air. She didn't hesitate, striding purposely toward the windows and yanking the heavy curtains wide open.

Sunlight immediately flooded in, illuminating the space.

"Hey, wait!"

The woman rushed forward to stop her, but Margie grabbed her arm and shook her head. "Since we brought her here, let her do her job."

The woman's eyes were full of hesitation, but because Margie stopped her, she ultimately held back.

Juno pushed the windows open, allowing a cool breeze to sweep over the frail elderly man on the bed, sending him into another fit of coughing.

Once the room was finally aired out, she approached the bed, reaching out to check the old man's pulse.

She took his pulse for an unusually long time.

The woman standing outside grew anxious. "Does checking a pulse usually take this long?" she asked Margie.

Margie kept her eyes fixed entirely on Juno and shook her head. "I've never actually seen her treat anyone before."

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Juno moved. She grabbed a pen and notepad from the nightstand, jotted something down, and handed the slip of paper to the waiting woman.

The woman eagerly took it. The handwriting was bold and powerful, the strokes distinct and heavily stylized.

It was beautifully written, but she couldn't understand a word of it.

Caelan snatched the paper from her hands. Glancing at the illegible handwriting, he immediately crumpled it into a ball and prepared to toss it.

Moira frantically grabbed his arm. "Don't throw it away! Dad's been like this for half a month. We've seen so many specialists and none of them could help. Can't we just give this alternative treatment a try?"

Seeing his sister's desperate, tear-filled eyes, Caelan softened and let out a long sigh. "We can try it, but I want a professional to review this first. This is our father's life we're talking about; we can't be careless."

That was the safest approach at the moment.

Reluctantly, Moira agreed.

She wondered if Juno would be offended if she knew they doubted her.

After all, going to a second expert was a sign of disrespect.

Soon, the estate manager brought in an older, experienced holistic healer—a famous name in Kingsland who had previously been stumped by the old man's condition.

"Sir, could you check if there are any issues with this list? Someone recommended it after looking at my father."

The older doctor barely even glanced at it. "I've never seen half of these supplements used this way. Throw it out; it's completely useless. A few of these will actually worsen his condition. Where did you even get something so absurd?"

Caelan looked pointedly at Moira. "Then we're throwing it out."
