The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 191

Moira Chadwick immediately sensed something was wrong. "No," she blurted out. "We should wait and see."

Hearing the pushback, the senior physician looked displeased but didn't dare show it too overtly; after all, the Chadwick family was incredibly wealthy.

"Ma'am, you shouldn't say that. In all my years of practice, I've never seen anyone prescribe something so reckless. The old man is already weak. If he takes that, I guarantee he won't survive the night!"

The physician was agitated, coughing twice for emphasis.

Caelan Chadwick patted his back soothingly. "Yes, yes, we understand."

Once the coughing fit subsided, the physician stood up. "Tell you what. Since this prescription is too aggressive, I'll add two extra ingredients to buffer the harshness."

"Do what you think is best, doctor."

The physician took a pen and made a few adjustments to the paper. His mood lifted as he turned to the butler. "It's perfect now. Go prepare the medication exactly like this."

The butler glanced at Caelan. Seeing his nod of approval, he hurried out to fill the prescription.

"Since the crisis is averted, I'll take my leave," the physician said.

Caelan nodded. "I'll walk you out."

The altered medication was given to Alastair Chadwick. Five days passed with no changes.

Standing at the door, Caelan looked worried. "See? I told you Juno Mercer was useless. It's been five days, and nothing's happened."

Moira still tried to defend her. "Let's wait a bit longer. Maybe we'll see results by the end of the month."

After all, Juno had asked for a month.

But on the tenth day, the unresponsive Alastair suddenly vomited a shocking amount of bright red blood.

Caelan's face went pale. He immediately sent for a doctor and ordered someone to drag Juno over.

With something like this happening, Juno wasn't going to get away with it!

She owed them an explanation!

The staff were clustered in corners, whispering about the disaster.

When she walked in, anyone with a bit of sense immediately shut their mouths. All eyes followed her until she disappeared up the stairs.

Moira was waiting by the door. Margie asked her, "What the hell is going on?"

Moira's micro-expressions betrayed her panic. "I don't know how this happened! We followed Miss Juno's instructions strictly. For the first few days, there was no reaction, so I didn't think much of it. Who knew my father would suddenly throw up blood today? He passed out and hasn't woken up since."

By the end, she sounded like she was on the verge of tears.

She was genuinely terrified.

Juno bypassed Moira and looked into the bedroom. Caelan was inside, talking to an older man with a grim expression.

Clearly, Alastair's condition was critical.

From the doorway, Juno couldn't get a clear read on the situation. "I'm going in," she stated.
