The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 200

Jeremy took a bite of his pastry, shooting his brother a wicked grin. "Since when do you have such weird habits?"

Kaelen shot him a deadly glare. "We have guests arriving soon. Hurry up and eat so you can go host them."

Jeremy downed the rest of his coffee. "Let's roll, Juno."

Juno put down her fork, stood up, and grabbed her jacket from a maid, following Jeremy toward the door.

Kaelen stood up, alarmed. "That's all you're eating?"

"I don't have a big appetite," Juno replied.

Kaelen shook his head. "Unacceptable. You're too skinny. I need to hire a nutritionist to bulk you up."

Jeremy raised an eyebrow at Juno. "That's just how your uncle is. He's fiercely protective of the people he cares about."

She was going to have to get used to his hovering.

Juno let out a long sigh.

The Jagger estate housed the largest combat arena in Kingsland, which meant major martial arts exhibitions were usually hosted on their turf.

The visiting foreign combat academy had already rested up and arrived bright and early at the arena. Today, various powerful factions from across the city had gathered to spar.

Juno trailed behind Jeremy, looking profoundly bored. If she had known it would be this dull, she would have just hung out with Claire Ashworth instead.

She looked thoroughly unbothered the entire time.

What she didn't expect was for the foreign fighters to interpret her boredom as blatant disrespect.

They started talking loudly amongst themselves. Since there wasn't a translator around and their native language was notoriously difficult, they assumed some spoiled young socialite like Juno couldn't possibly understand them.

Thinking they were safe, they let loose.

"What is up with her attitude? Why is she acting so snobby? I can literally see the annoyance on her face. Is everyone in Kingsland this arrogant?"

"Tch. She's just a rich girl throwing a tantrum, ignore her. She's probably completely useless in a fight and is just here as a pretty face for the reception. Don't waste your breath."

"When I get in that ring, I'm not holding back. Let's see if these Kingsland elites act so high and mighty after I beat them into the ground."

Every single word landed perfectly in Juno's ears.

"I'm here."

His voice was smooth and polite.

Juno slumped into her chair, looking at the noisy fighters across the room. "Stand out here and watch with me. I'm bored."

Morgan casually handed her a bag of snacks.

It was exactly what she wanted.

Juno lazily chewed on a piece. "Who do you think is going to win?"

Morgan didn't even have to think about it. "If this were Blackwood City, they wouldn't even be allowed in the ring. But here? They're all equally mediocre. It's hard to say who will scrape by."

She figured as much.

There were no drawn-out opening speeches. The matches started immediately. A fighter from the foreign academy stepped into the ring. He pointed a finger directly at Juno and, in broken, heavily accented English, demanded, "Please invite Juno Mercer from the Jagger family to the ring."

Juno, who had just tossed a piece of popcorn into her mouth, raised an eyebrow. "It's been a long time since I've seen trash begging me to beat them up."
