She was powerless to stop the gossip herself. But a rumor needed clearing up, and it had to be done by Juno.
Nothing was more convincing than the person involved settling the score directly.
Claire had posted a challenge on the campus forum on Juno's behalf.
Anyone who questioned Juno's grades was invited to a one-on-one academic duel.
The post garnered a ton of likes, but so far, no one had actually stepped up to accept the challenge.
Most people were just there for the drama; nobody had the guts to actually test her.
Ever since returning to the Talbot family, Rhiannon had kept a much lower profile, knowing better than to make herself a target.
So whatever happened with Juno was none of her business.
She was perfectly content just pulling strings in the shadows and manipulating the rumors.
Little did she know, by not going to Juno, Juno would come straight to her.
It was a large public lecture with over a hundred students in the hall.
Juno casually walked down the aisle and tossed her tablet directly onto Rhiannon's desk. "Explain."
Rhiannon stopped typing on her laptop, looking up defensively. "Explain what?"
Claire couldn't stand her fake innocence. "Got the guts to do it but not to own up to it?"
Rhiannon glanced down at the tablet. It was just the forum posts smearing Juno.
She leaned back, brimming with confidence, practically rolling her eyes. "Are you saying it's not true? 'Got the guts to do it but not to own up to it' is exactly what I should be saying to you."
Claire scoffed. "You're just jealous of Juno's grades. You're trash, so you can't stand anyone being better than you."
That comment hit Rhiannon right where it hurt.
It was exactly what she was thinking.
"Oh, please. If you're going to throw accusations, you need proof. Coming at me with nothing but empty threats—is this the level of class the Computer Science Department teaches?"
Juno stared down at her coldly. "My class is demonstrated by the fact that I haven't backhanded you down the stairs yet."
The audience watching the drama unfold was floored. Savage!
Sebastian peered through the doorway. It looked like Juno hadn't finished her business yet, so he decided to wait outside a bit longer.
Inside, it felt like time was dragging. Rhiannon kept checking her watch. Minute after minute ticked by. It was already twenty minutes into the lecture block, and there was still no sign of the professor.
Looking back at the relentless Juno, cold sweat broke out on her forehead. "What do you want?"
"It seems you still don't understand the situation," Juno said with chilling detachment. She paused. "The question is, what do you want?"
Pushed to the brink, Rhiannon finally snapped and yelled out her true thoughts. "I want to compete with you! I don't believe your perfect scores are real!"
"Fine," Juno agreed instantly.
It was as if she had been waiting for her to say exactly that.
Faye cheered Rhiannon on from the side. "Go for it, Rhiannon! We have nothing to hide! There's nothing to be afraid of!"
Only after securing the challenge did Juno finally turn to leave.
The second Juno sat down at her desk, Sebastian walked into the classroom. "Professor Ziegler had an emergency today. I'll be taking over this class."
Rhiannon's face instantly turned ashen. He had definitely done that on purpose.
