The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 218

Night fell.

Juno called Morgan. "Where is Balfour?"

Morgan sounded just as caught off guard. "He went to Blackwood City."

Juno gritted her teeth. "That bastard."

"Where exactly?"

"At the Yates estate."

He had run straight to Lorcan Yates for protection.

Just as they were discussing it, a video call from Balfour popped up on her screen.

Juno swiped to answer, and Balfour's face appeared on her tablet.

She stared at him with the dead, hollow eyes of someone looking at a corpse.

Balfour was lounging in comfortable sleepwear, looking as pristine and relaxed as ever. "How are things? If I'm not mistaken, Chuck's memory should be falling apart right about now.

"A word of warning: if he doesn't get the next phase of the antidote within a week, he might just drop dead on the spot."

"Juno, I couldn't bear to make things completely impossible for you, so I left a week's supply of the medicine behind. Whether you can get it or not depends entirely on your own skills."

Balfour took a slow sip of his coffee. "Care to guess who I gave it to?"

Juno stared at the cup in his hand, fighting the urge to shatter the screen over his face.

Seeing her silence, Balfour shrugged lazily. "I gave it to Rhiannon Corrington. You two used to be sisters, so she'll probably hand it over. But if you want to cure him permanently, you'll still have to come to Blackwood City."

Juno's true identity was a massive liability. She couldn't just casually operate in Blackwood City.

Everyone in the elite circles knew Juno Mercer was dead.

If she showed her face there as Juno Mercer, how could she possibly explain it?

Almost all of the Obsidian Court's resources were tied up and couldn't be mobilized blindly.

If she moved them, the entire world would realize she was still alive.

Balfour knew exactly what he was doing by hiding in Blackwood City.

The most dangerous place was the safest place for him.

"Juno, back then, Chuck was willing to get on his knees and beg Lorcan just for you. But now that I'm asking you to come to Blackwood City, you're hesitating?"

Rhiannon laughed in her face. "If this were the past, maybe I'd have demands. But now..." She glared daggers at Juno. "I'm back with the Talbot family. I'm the princess they hold in the palm of their hands. They'll give me anything I want. What makes you think I care about anything you have to offer?"

A cold gust swept across the roof, matching the absolute zero of Juno's expression.

Rhiannon smirked and turned to walk away.

In a flash, Juno's hand shot out, locking onto Rhiannon's wrist in a vice grip. With a violent tug, she dragged her straight to the rusted railing at the edge of the roof.

Keeping one hand clamped around Rhiannon's wrist, Juno pressed her other hand directly against her throat, shoving her backward over the ledge. Half of Rhiannon's body was instantly suspended in thin air, facing the sky, her heart violently dropping into her stomach.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could barely make out Juno's shadowed face.

"Know why I brought you to the roof?" Juno asked in a sinister whisper.

Rhiannon was paralyzed with terror.

"Because if you say no, I'll throw you right off."

Rhiannon's blood ran cold. Her scalp prickled with absolute dread.

Juno smiled, a terrifying, unhinged look in her eyes. "I'm going to ask you one last time. Name your price. Are you giving me the medicine?"
