The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 234

"Yes, I prepared today's menu."

Bingo!

He looked completely serious!

There was a ninety percent chance he was telling the truth!

She had been preparing to search the whole estate, and here he was right in front of her.

Talk about perfect timing.

Melba quickly adjusted her attitude. "Here's the deal. Your cooking is excellent, and my daughter loves it. I want to offer you a highly lucrative position."

Louis didn't even hesitate. "Thank you for the offer, but I'll have to decline."

"Don't be so quick to say no. Think about it. Whatever the Pinnacle is paying you, I'll triple it."

Louis looked at her with a complicated expression, keeping his mouth shut.

His going rate for a single dish was $180,000.

Melba mistook his silence for hesitation.

She reconsidered; maybe she had lowballed him.

"Think about it carefully. What kind of future do you have locked up in a place like the Pinnacle? Barely anyone even comes here. Your talent is going to waste."

Melba tossed out her golden ticket. "If you agree to come with me, I'll make you the executive chef at a five-star hotel in Jindale City."

Louis frowned. He hadn't expected this elegant-looking woman to be so entirely unreasonable.

Being aggressively pressured over and over again was quickly draining his patience. His face darkened as he brushed off the hand she had placed on his arm. "If you keep doing this, I'm not going to be polite."

Louis had been holed up in the Pinnacle for years, completely cut off from the outside world.

Melba was one of the few new faces he'd interacted with in a long time.

And she had zero manners.

Melba laughed in disbelief. A mere cook dared to give her an attitude?

If he wasn't going to give her face, she had no reason to give him any!

Two guards immediately moved in to separate her as Morgan strode forward.

The moment Morgan appeared, Louis looked as if an angel had descended. He quickly stepped behind him to safety.

His savior had arrived!

Morgan gripped his cane, his thumb tracing the wood. "What exactly are you doing, Mrs. Talbot?"

Startled by the sudden influx of security, Melba quickly tried to explain herself. "My daughter loves Chef Louis's cooking. I want to offer him a highly paid position in Jindale City."

"And what were your terms?"

To Louis, the question sounded more like Morgan asking just so they could all have a good laugh.

Melba didn't see anything wrong with her offer. "Executive chef at a five-star hotel in Jindale City, for triple whatever the Pinnacle is paying him."

Morgan let out a cold scoff and gave a sharp nod to one of his men. "Enlighten her."

A guard stepped forward, his voice dripping with ice. "Louis. Top-tier global culinary master. Famous at fifteen. Head chef and owner of thirty-eight restaurants worldwide. His ventures hold a combined twenty-eight Michelin stars. He is the highest-paid chef on the planet, known to the industry as a culinary god."

With every title dropped, Melba's face grew another shade paler.
