The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 241

A crowd had already gathered. The freshmen were gasping in shock, while the upperclassmen watched with open jealousy.

Chuck Yates walked away without looking back.

Mandy's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

After that day, Juno Mercer and Chuck completely severed ties.

She only ever heard his name in passing from others.

The next time she actually saw him was in a dark, narrow alleyway.

His breathing was incredibly weak. Juno, who had been passing by, suddenly stopped and peered into the depths of the shadows. The further back it went, the darker it became, but she could vaguely make out voices.

Softening her steps, she slipped into a narrow, twenty-centimeter gap between the buildings, casually picking up a loose brick along the way.

She listened to the conversation unfolding ahead.

Chuck’s voice was barely a thread, but his defiance remained completely unbroken. "Kill me, if you've got the guts."

Lorcan Yates crouched down and patted his cheek mockingly. "You're smart. If you come back and work for me, I'll treat you well. But since you want to do this the hard way, I'll just have to break your pride."

With a mouth full of blood, Chuck spat right in Lorcan’s face.

Lorcan stumbled back in disgust. "Beat him!"

That bastard!

Absolutely sickening!

In a flash, Chuck snatched a handgun off one of the men and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The bullet tore through flesh, and a bodyguard collapsed right in front of Lorcan.

Lorcan’s eyes widened, the scent of blood sparking a twisted excitement in his brain. "You actually dare to shoot?"

At the sound of the gunshot, Juno’s grip on the brick loosened.

No one even saw how Chuck moved, but by the time they processed it, the barrel of his gun was pressed firmly against Lorcan’s temple.

Lorcan narrowed his eyes. "Cripple him!"

Chuck shifted his aim, firing a round straight into the man's leg.

He looked away. "Get me some medication."

He couldn't move an inch.

"Are you an idiot? You're in this state and you just want some pills? You've got at least three broken ribs."

Unused to being chewed out like that, Chuck was temporarily left speechless.

She scanned the area. "Wait here. I'll go find a stretcher."

A short while later, she returned—not just with a stretcher, but with a guy to help.

With an icy expression, Chuck let the two of them haul him onto the stretcher.

They rushed him to the hospital.

The attending doctor gave a grim nod. "You handled this well. If he had been moved recklessly, a broken rib could have punctured a lung, making things far worse."

"Thank you, doctor," she replied with a polite nod.

Stuffing his hands in his pockets, the doctor sighed. "It's my job. By the way, while his superficial wounds aren't too severe right now, he really needs to be careful. One more bad beating, and he could end up permanently paralyzed."
