The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 252

His medical licenses were entirely legitimate.

Juno merely raised an eyebrow.

"By the way, it's a total mess out front. Aren't you curious?" Kian brought it up as if it were a passing thought.

"What happened?"

"Gemma Yates rounded up a bunch of people and is throwing a tantrum outside. She's demanding a crusade against the Obsidian Court, claiming they're aiding and abetting a villain."

The 'villain' being Juno for ordering the hit on Lorcan, and the people executing the beating being the Obsidian Court's top assassins.

If that wasn't aiding and abetting, what was?

Kian added, "When I was coming over, Lucia Corbett asked me to tell you to head out there."

Juno gave a slight nod. "Keep an eye on things here. I'll go check it out."

"Relax, leave it to me."

No one of actual authority from the Yates family had shown their face—it was just Gemma making a scene. Most likely, the rest of the family wanted to watch this brainless heiress make a fool of herself.

But Gemma wasn't just throwing a tantrum; the Russell family was backing her up from the shadows.

When Juno arrived, she saw Lucia staring at Gemma with the expression of someone looking at a corpse, utterly unimpressed as Gemma threw her weight around.

Gemma had no sense of decorum, sitting aggressively across from her to demand answers. "Why aren't you saying anything, Ms. Corbett? You're the only one who can command the Obsidian Court, right? We had a friendly partnership before. You better think carefully—are you really going to go to war with the Yates family over some feral brat from Kingsland? What kind of capital does Juno Mercer even have to act this arrogantly?"

The Obsidian Court and the Yates family had a mutually restraining relationship.

If they really went to war while the old patriarch was still alive, it would have ended in mutual destruction. But now that he was gone, no one left in the Yates family could hold their own.

Lucia looked completely fed up. She genuinely wanted to step forward and crush the girl under her boot. Just then, she spotted Juno.

Lucia quickly stood up. At barely five-foot-one, her height didn't exactly exude an intimidating aura, and Gemma watched her with an amused smirk.

Did this little dwarf actually think she was going to attack her?

But to Gemma's surprise, Lucia didn't make a move. Instead, Juno casually walked over.

Juno took a seat, looking entirely in her element.

Lucia commanded, "Greet her!"

She couldn't wrap her head around it.

Juno didn't plan on wasting any more time here. Seeing that Lucia had everything handled, she headed back to the villa.

But when Juno returned to the bedroom, Chuck was gone.

Not only was he gone, he had taken two of her men with him.

...

The heavy doors of the dungeon were thrown open.

Hearing the noise, Balfour Lytton lifted his heavy, exhausted head. Before the spark of hope could fully ignite in his eyes, Chuck stepped completely into view.

Balfour's face instantly darkened.

If Chuck was awake, it meant Juno had found the antidote. More importantly, it meant Juno had remembered him.

Only someone with her restored memories would know the antidote was at Skyreach Tower.

Before Balfour could even open his mouth, Chuck marched over and delivered a brutal kick, instantly followed by a savage punch. His eyes burned with violent, predatory rage. "I finally managed to make Juno forget that goddamn memory! And you fucking forced her to remember?!"
