The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 259

Juno wasn't overthinking it. The front row was dead silent, but the row directly behind her was a whole different story.

Sebastian and Rylan were putting on an absolute masterclass in public humiliation, grinding the Talbot family's pride into the dirt.

Rylan whispered loudly, "What do you think of her technique?"

Sebastian replied, "Mediocre at best. You definitely can't call it good. She actually came out here to embarrass herself with that level of skill?"

"I'm pretty sure you were playing at this level when you were three years old," Rylan said, stroking his chin like an esteemed music critic.

Sebastian's tone dripped with sarcasm. "Now, now, don't be like that. We have to be respectful."

Rylan raised an eyebrow, turning to look at his brother with keen interest, waiting for the punchline.

Sebastian gazed softly at the back of Juno's head in the front row. "It's just a shame not everyone can be as humble as our sister. She holds unimaginable power, yet keeps her head down, never fights for the spotlight, and is so incredibly approachable."

Hearing the word 'approachable' applied to Juno almost made Rylan break character.

What the hell?

Approachable?

Juno?

It was like saying a shark was a vegetarian.

The two brothers continued their tag-team routine. "Exactly! If the Obsidian Court hadn't literally stood up for her, I never would've known how terrifyingly capable she was! And even with all that, she never shows off. Not like some people, who book a single piano gig and make sure the whole world knows about it, terrified people might miss just how badly their daughter plays."

"Small-time mentality. Utterly unpresentable."

The Talbots sitting next to them: ...

Fuck off.

Melba was practically choking on her own fury.

Titus's expression was equally foul. "You were in Blackwood City—how the hell did you not figure out who she was?"

How did he marry such an idiot?

Now they had completely burned a bridge with an absolute titan. Remembering the smug look on Lucia's face earlier, Titus realized he was the biggest fool in the room.

The Talbots sat on pins and needles, desperate to leave.

Soon enough, Rhiannon finished her set. The heavy makeup couldn't hide the absolute panic and humiliation twisting her features.

She offered a stiff, elegant bow and turned to take her seat. But the moment she stepped off the stage, a staff member approached her and said politely, "You may leave the venue now."

Rhiannon stared at him in disbelief. Taking a deep breath to suppress her breaking composure, she forced a smile. "I am a member of the Talbot family. I have every right to attend this forum."

"Because you registered individually to perform and were not listed under the Talbot family's corporate registry, we do not have a seat allocated for you. Please exit the premises immediately, Ms. Talbot. The forum is about to begin."

Rhiannon's voice actually cracked. "What?!"

She had overplayed her hand so badly she played herself right out of the room.

Seeing that the keynote speeches were about to commence, the staff member ushered her away. "Right this way, Ms. Talbot."

With hundreds of eyes watching, Rhiannon couldn't throw a tantrum. Humiliated beyond belief, she had no choice but to follow the staff member out.

Before stepping through the doors, she caught Lucia looking at her like she was a complete idiot. Then she looked at Juno, only to realize Juno wasn't even looking at her at all.

Juno finally spoke. "The Obsidian Court will cover whatever the project is short on."

Chuck shot Miles a look. Miles instantly understood.

"Whatever the Obsidian Court pays, The Imperium will double it."

The crowd collectively gasped. Absolute financial domination!

The two mayors looked like they had just won the lottery. They could practically sit back and relax now.

The funding was secured.

But was Chuck's money ever really that easy to take?

No.

Miles added smoothly, "The parcel of land in the East End. We want it."

He directed the statement straight to the Mayor of Kingsland.

This was the trade-off for doubling the capital.

The mayor weighed the pros and cons for exactly thirty seconds.

He immediately agreed. "Done."

The East End plot was practically a wasteland that no one wanted. Selling it off for such an astronomical investment was a massive win for the city.

The two mayors never imagined closing the deal would be this effortless.
