Still half-asleep and with messy hair, Lucia scrambled out of bed. Her subordinates were already waiting outside her door. She threw on an overcoat and stormed out.
The long coat reached her ankles, completely covering her legs.
By the time she arrived at the Corrington residence, everyone from both the Corrington and Jagger families was present.
It was uncomfortably crowded.
Morgan and Tristan Todd were waiting outside. The moment she arrived, they escorted her upstairs.
The people in the living room cast nervous glances her way.
With a cowlick sticking up on her head, Lucia sleepily hurried up the stairs, her rapid steps leaving her slightly winded.
Kian was guarding the room where Juno lay in bed, her face as white as a sheet of paper.
Lucia approached the bed and felt for Juno's pulse. There was absolutely nothing.
Lucia asked Kian, "Did you find out anything?"
Kian shook his head. "Biologically speaking, she's deceased."
He had never felt so powerless in his entire life.
He was entirely out of his depth.
Morgan was pacing anxiously. "Is there anything we can do right now?"
Kian glanced back at him. "Don't panic."
Ever since Morgan arrived, he had been a nervous wreck, hounding him for answers.
Morgan's face was pale. It was his fault for not staying close to her.
If he had just stayed by her side, maybe this wouldn't have happened.
Even the golden python on his walking cane seemed to lose its luster.
Standing by the bed, Lucia stared down at the unconscious Juno and murmured, "Contact Elder Casimir. Ask him to draw a reading on her fate."
She just couldn't believe Juno would die this easily.
Could someone so notoriously chaotic really just drop dead like this?
Hearing this, Morgan's eyelashes fluttered. He remembered it was Casimir who initially told him Juno might still be alive.
He immediately sprang into action. "I'll arrange it."
Morgan moved so fast he tripped over his own feet, stumbling before rushing out the door.
The hand holding his cane hung limply at his side. A crushing weight settled on his chest, making it nearly impossible to breathe.
Juno was devoid of life.
The Corrington and Jagger families frantically pulled strings to find any doctor available.
How could a perfectly healthy person just suddenly end up like this?
Hearing the results from Morgan, the members of the Obsidian Court pacing the hallway all fell into a deep gloom.
Inside the room, Gwendolyn held Juno's freezing hand, crying softly.
Her precious daughter had only just returned, and now this.
Why couldn't her child just experience a little happiness?
Juno couldn't hear anything. She was completely unresponsive.
But as one crisis struck, another quickly followed.
Babur sprinted up the stairs, ignoring the elevator, and practically threw himself against the doorframe, out of breath. "Mom! Dad! There's a mob outside saying they're here to take Juno!"
Harrison and Gwendolyn exchanged a panicked glance and immediately rushed downstairs.
