The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 266

Chuck was sitting in his car. Without even looking at the man, he said in an icy tone, "I heard you came here to kidnap someone."

Enduring the excruciating pain in his chest, the man pulled out the official document.

One of his subordinates handed it to Chuck.

Chuck tossed it out the window without a second glance. The piece of paper fluttered to the ground near the leader's feet. Radiating an overwhelming, aggressive hostility, Chuck sneered, "You thought a piece of trash like this would let you take what's mine?"

The moment the last word left his mouth, every single one of his men drew their weapons and aimed at the Institute's team.

The tension in the air was explosive.

Refusing to be intimidated, the man maintained his bureaucratic tone. "This was decided by the higher-ups at the Institute. We're simply following protocol."

"Whoever made that decision can come down here and try to take her himself."

The man was left speechless again. With a pair of absolute savages like Chuck and Lucia guarding the place, even if his superiors showed up, they would probably get taken hostage.

It seemed kidnapping Juno today was entirely out of the question.

The mission was a failure.

He pulled out his radio. "Fall back."

Chuck's voice cut through the air. "You think you can just march into the Corrington home, cause a scene, and walk away?"

The man froze as genuine panic finally set in.

What was he planning to do?

The members of both families were gathered at the doorway, watching the massive standoff unfold.

Babur clung to the doorframe, looking at Chuck with pure, unadulterated worship.

His brother-in-law was unbelievably cool!

"Break one leg on every single one of them," Chuck ordered.

That was the price of targeting someone they shouldn't have.

In perfect unison, The Imperium's men pulled out baseball bats from seemingly nowhere, swarmed the group, and delivered exactly one brutal strike per person.

The sickening crack of bones snapping echoed ominously through the quiet night.

The Institute's team collapsed to the ground, entirely unable to stand.

Chuck casually played with his phone. "Trash their vehicles. Let them crawl back."

Drenched in a cold sweat from the agony, the leader could do nothing but watch Chuck's men destroy their rides.

Chuck stepped out of his car. "Clear them out. I'm sick of looking at them."

And with the crash came an overwhelming wave of sleepiness.

She let out a massive yawn. Gwendolyn offered warmly, "If you don't mind, we'd love for you to stay in one of our guest rooms."

Despite her usual germophobia, Lucia was too tired to care. She waved her hand. "Not at all. Lead the way."

Beggars couldn't be choosers at a time like this.

Babur stared in amazement. Did this woman have a split personality?

Just minutes ago she had been a terrifying assassin, and now she was softly mumbling to his mother like a sleepy child.

Back in the room, Kian's face was etched with worry. "I've truly never seen anything like this."

He had officially hit a terrifying bottleneck in his medical career.

The next day, the Institute sent a new negotiator. This one knew exactly who was in charge and went straight to Chuck. "Mr. Yates, are you absolutely certain you won't turn her over?"

The two men stood right by the Corrington estate's main gate.

Chuck didn't even want to engage. "Was breaking their legs not clear enough for you?"

The negotiator remained remarkably polite. "What if I told you that giving us Juno is the only way to wake her up?"
