The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 274

The buildings here were massive skyscrapers piercing the clouds, entirely unlike the flat, single-story houses in her rural hometown.

Everyone dressed so impeccably. Back home, just throwing on a pair of jeans was considered highly fashionable.

She wandered for blocks until she realized she was completely lost.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket. She picked it up to see it was Shayla.

Shayla was panting heavily on the other end. "Juno? Where are you? I'm in deep trouble at school, can you come over?"

The woman scanned her surroundings. "I don't even know where I am right now. I don't think I can make it anytime soon."

Shayla's voice spiked in panic. "Then grab a cab!!"

Realizing that was an option, the woman quickly agreed, "Oh, oh, right. Got it."

Hanging up, Shayla cursed under her breath, "Stupid bitch."

Before the screen even went dark, a tough-looking girl snatched the phone right out of Shayla's hand. The thug sneered impatiently, "If you don't pay up today, I'm going to ruin your pretty little face!"

Shayla's tone instantly dissolved into panic. "She's coming right now, just wait!"

The thug just gave a cold snort.

Half an hour later, a figure rushed breathlessly into the bathroom, calling out tentatively, "Shayla?"

The moment she spoke, someone grabbed her by the shirt and violently yanked her forward. She stumbled, dropping her phone to the tiles. Just as she bent down to retrieve it...

A heavy boot slammed down onto the screen.

The woman looked up to see a smug, aggressive-looking girl glaring down at her.

She frowned, confused. Did Northbridge University really have students like this?

They had to be outsiders.

Seeing her arrive, Shayla yelled excitedly, "She's here!! I told you she was coming!!!"

The woman shot her a bewildered look. What the hell was going on?

"What's happening?" she asked.

Why were these girls pinning Shayla against the wall?

The thug grounded her boot into the phone. "She owes us money. You paying?"

The woman didn't refuse immediately, instead asking, "How much?"

The thug flashed six fingers. "Sixty grand."

In the middle of his lecture, Sebastian Corrington's phone rang.

Not being in the habit of muting it during class, he answered immediately.

"This is Sebastian."

It was Juno's advisor. "Professor Corrington, I need you to come down here." He paused awkwardly. "Your sister beat someone up again."

Sebastian's grip on the phone tightened. Without even grabbing his textbook, he bolted out of the room at a dead sprint.

Leaving hundreds of students utterly bewildered.

The auditorium exchanged utterly confused glances.

"What just happened? Why did he sprint out after one phone call?"

"I caught a bit of it—it sounded like his sister beat someone up."

"Then why did Professor Corrington look so happy?"

He had literally lit up. His eyes were shining with pure joy.

Was he really that thrilled that his sister was committing assault?
