No one spoke.
Who would dare answer that?
Lucia Corbett issued the order. "Have the core operatives of Division XIII head to Kingsland. I'll stay behind for now."
After all, she had just kicked the Russell family out, and there was still a mess left for her to clean up.
"Understood."
Using the Obsidian Court's underwater channels, the team from Division XIII made their way to Kingsland at top speed.
It was a vital transportation hub that the Obsidian Court had poured a massive fortune into, taking five years to build under extremely arduous conditions.
It expanded outward from Blackwood City to various developed regions.
Ten members from Division XIII arrived, heading straight to Genesis Hospital the second they touched down.
The entire Corrington family had been overjoyed upon hearing the news of Juno's return. They were busy cooking at home, waiting to give her a surprise, only to rush frantically to Genesis Hospital when they heard she had been coughing up blood.
Kian Zimmer was a member of Division XIII, and the entire team was now gathered in the sterile ward.
Juno was currently undergoing blood filtration.
This was the treatment plan Division XIII had provided.
They needed to flush the excessive toxins accumulating in her bloodstream out of her body just to stabilize her basic vital signs.
Everything else would have to wait.
Gerda paced anxiously outside. "What's going on? Why did she suddenly start coughing up blood? And who are all these people that just arrived?"
Gwendolyn Jagger gently patted her back to keep her from getting too worked up. "I heard they're from the Obsidian Court's Division XIII, here to check on Juno's condition."
"If they had just come in the first place, we wouldn't be dealing with all this trouble, would we?" the old woman huffed, clearly upset.
First, she was unconscious, then throwing up blood, and now she was poisoned.
It was one disaster after another.
Morgan was in low spirits, muttering under his breath, "Division XIII can only save the living."
No matter how critical a living person's condition was, Division XIII could bring them back.
But they were utterly powerless to save the dead.
Otherwise, they never would have agreed to let those people from the Research Institute do whatever they wanted with Juno.
The blood filtration process took a very long time; it felt like a century had passed.
He wanted to march right up and kick him.
His daughter had only just come back!
And someone already had their sights on her?!
Sensing what Harrison was about to do, Gwendolyn quickly grabbed him with the help of their two sons and pulled him away. "We'll head back for now, then. We'll leave things here to you."
Once downstairs, Harrison shook them off, let out a cold snort, and straightened his ruffled suit.
Rylan Corrington looked confused. "What was that all about?"
He had only remembered to follow his mother's cue and didn't actually know what was going on.
Harrison shot Gwendolyn a glare. "Your mother is trying to set your sister up with that guy upstairs!"
His overprotective fatherly instincts were flaring up!
Hearing this, Rylan turned around and started marching right back upstairs.
How could they let some guy swoop in and steal their precious girl so easily?!
Sebastian Corrington and Babur Corrington quickly grabbed him and tossed him into the car. Loosening his tie, Sebastian said, "Let Juno make her own choices. Why are you interfering as an older brother? If people didn't know better, they'd think you had a crush on Chuck!"
