Rylan, still lying in the car, was left utterly dumbfounded by the lecture.
Sebastian added, "Juno's an adult. Stop treating her like a three-year-old."
It wasn't entirely clear if that comment was meant for Rylan or Harrison.
With that, the Corrington family finally left.
The only ones remaining were Chuck, Miles, and a few others.
Chuck stood ramrod straight outside the sterile ward, facing the tightly shut doors.
It was three days later before Juno finally woke up.
That agonizing, full-body pain was gone.
She let out a long sigh of relief, but when she tried to sit up, she realized it was futile.
She simply didn't have the strength.
Chuck walked in right at that moment and adjusted the bed so she wouldn't have to exert herself.
"Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Even opening her mouth took effort. Juno shook her head weakly, lying there limply.
Kian came in for a check-up and noted, "No major issues. Just focus on resting and recovering from now on."
"Skip the medication."
He had noticed that the drugs didn't seem to have any effect on Juno.
She had developed some sort of antibody.
Chuck nodded. "Understood."
Holding Juno's medical file, Kian said, "Alright, get some good rest. I'll head out first."
He stepped out, thoughtfully pulling the door shut behind him.
After walking a few steps, he suddenly realized he'd forgotten to mention something. Just as he was about to go back in, Miles yanked him back. "What are you doing?"
Kian looked confused. "Forgot to tell them something."
Miles threw an arm around his shoulders like they were best buddies and steered him away. "Just tell me. It's the same as telling them."
Kian glanced back. "But..."
Miles firmly grabbed his head and forced him to face forward. "No buts. Just tell me."
Chuck didn't act coy. He climbed directly into bed, wrapped his arms around her, and was fast asleep within moments.
Juno gently traced his eyebrows.
You've worked hard, Chuck.

Now that Juno was awake, it was time to settle the score.
Outside the Research Institute, a dense, suffocating sea of black-clad figures gathered, exuding an oppressive aura.
Twenty bodies lay on the ground, covered with white sheets.
The director, graying at the temples but still robust and sharp-eyed, stood before them.
This massive show of force sent a singular message.
Give us an explanation.
Without waiting for Chuck to speak, the director had someone hand over a document. It was data supposedly proving Juno's consciousness transference.
Miles intercepted the file. He didn't even bother handing it to Chuck. Instead, his face terrifyingly cold, he threw it straight up into the air. The pages scattered and fluttered down around them. "I brought bombs, and you're showing me this?!"
