The papers fluttered to the ground like snow, taking the dignity of everyone in the Research Institute down with them.
The director stood at the forefront of his staff. "What exactly do you want?"
Miles stood in silence behind Chuck.
Just as everyone wondered what they were playing at, Morgan appeared, pushing Juno into view.
Morgan glared at them with a bone-chilling intensity.
He didn't want to let a single person here live.
Juno sat in a wheelchair, a blanket draped over her legs, her face still somewhat pale.
Compared to Morgan, she appeared much more relaxed.
There was no obvious hatred etched on her face.
She was impossible to read.
Chuck walked over and draped his coat over her shoulders.
The warmth from his body seeping into the coat helped block out the biting cold.
Leaning back in her wheelchair, Juno asked, "I'm only here for one thing. The Research Institute has claimed with absolute certainty that my consciousness was transferred. Did someone report me?"
The director's expression shifted slightly, but he smoothly denied it. "No."
Juno's fingers tapped rhythmically against the armrest under her blanket. She asked lazily, "No?"
She sat up a little straighter, her eagle-like gaze piercing straight through to their cores. "So you were just deliberately targeting me?"
Without a tip-off, why would anyone pay attention to a wealthy family's long-lost daughter retrieved from the countryside?
The director's heart skipped a beat.
He hadn't expected Juno to trap him so easily with a single sentence.
Juno leaned back in her chair, looking exhausted, though it did nothing to diminish her sheer authority. "Hmm?"
The director remained silent.
The more he said, the more mistakes he'd make.
It was better to keep his mouth shut.
Changing the subject, Juno glanced around the facility's grounds. "Hasn't the director noticed that I'm missing a few people?"
The director quickly scanned the area. Not a single person Chuck brought was missing.
He looked back at Juno in confusion, unsure of what she was playing at.
Juno spun the silver ring on her finger. She rarely wore it, but having it on meant the Obsidian Court was present.
After all, this was the ring symbolizing an elder's status.
And it was the most important building!!!
It housed countless critical data files!!!
Everything inside was incinerated!!!
Covering her nose and mouth, Juno said coolly, "Miles literally just told you he brought bombs." Why act so surprised?
The director was so agitated his old bones were practically rattling. "Put out the fire!!!"
With no sprinkler system left, the collapsed building rapidly went up in flames.
In the face of massive burning architecture, humans were pitifully small.
Just getting close to the area was unbearable due to the blistering, scorching heat.
No one could approach it.
The director glared fiercely at Juno. This woman was an absolute menace; she should have just stayed in her coma!!
"What do you want?!"
Juno tilted her head, feigning confusion. "It's about what you want. Isn't it obvious what I want?
If you won't tell me what I want to hear, I'll just keep blowing up your buildings.
